Just curious why the sky rocket prices for the Colt Delta Elite, 10mm?
Are they discontinued?

No idea, I thought they were discontinued, twice. Somewhere around here is one the original that liked to crack the frame. That one particularly is an example of a great poorly executed idea.

I saw that as well, but now with the corrected issue the prices are stupid.

The one on the far right. The Rock Island 10mm is actually more enjoyable to shoot. The Colt is accurate thought.

Anything 10mm has jumped. Any gun in 10mm is very uncommon compared to 9X19 and .45 AUTO (as we all know). I am not a stainless, Colt, or red triangle on my gun sort of guy so let them overpay.
Pass the gravy.

Yep 10mm is the chit. I have one from the early 90's to go along with my Colt Delta HBAR.
What's really cool is the FN510...22 round capacity.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

Go look at gunbroker for an estimated value. 1500-and up. That's without FFL fees, taxes or possibly shipping. Insane.

10mm is the craze right now so prices reflect that. I’ve been less than impressed with it. In a couple of years there will be something else that everyone has to have.

^^^ If you enjoy hunting with a handgun and want to use something other than a revolver a 10 mm with good handloads is fantastic on everything up to the largest Texas deer. If you're not recoil sensitive and don't mind caring a full size pistol every day it's really tough to beat a 10 mm, the good 10 mm loads are a bit stouter than the best 357 mag loads. I have seen 1380fps with a 200gr bullet out of a 6" barrel before. I wouldn't try to shoot that load in a 1911 though.

Don’t see the point in 10mm myself. Had no idea prices were up on it It gives you the power of a Magnum revolver in a semi-auto package. It's power is a bit more than a 357 Magnum and a little less than a 41 magnum.

It's cool if you use it to hunt other than that it's just a jacked up truck.

Never cared for the grips on those, borderline Savage hideous... Colt missed it on that
And yes, I know you can change them

I got one years ago in a trade for some work. Box and all. I just put it in an auction so I’m glad to hear they are in demand right now. I only shot it a few times honestly didn’t make much of an impression on me either way.

I lusted after a 10mm for over 30 years before I got serious about it and started looking for one. I thought I wanted a Delta Elite, but I kept running across reports of horrid accuracy which seemed to be just a random thing. I figured I'd be the guy to get stuck with a $1500 lemon, so I considered other 1911 options and bought a Turkish import. Seems to be a very nice gun but I'm not thoroughly familiar with it yet. Like blkt2 says, the handloaded 10mm compares well with the .357 Magnum, and to me that kind of power in a 1911 platform without giving up a lot of capacity seems to be just about as good as it gets.

And yes, I know you can change them Have to agree with you about the grips, they look pretty but 1911 grips all feel funky to me even though I wear a 2x or 3x glove. I normally replace the grip screw bushings and grip panels for the thin style on the majority of my 1911s.

I've got a Colt Delta Gold Cup, I can't even find one of those on gunbroker. I wonder what it's value would be compared to the Delta Elites

Dallas reloads 200gr xtp 10mm round it's stout enough to knock the squeal out of the piggy's. You can go hotter ammo but it takes a toll on 1911 style guns. My favorite 10 mm I own is a 10mm CMMG banshee. I was just at the range today shooting my Ruger 1911/10mm w/delta point pro. very accurate but has some snap : https://dallasreloads.com/product/10mm-200-grain-hornady-xtp-500-rounds/200 grain Hornady XTP in stock! You won’t find anything better!!! With BULK pricing! New Starline brass, 200 grain Hornady XTP @ 1220 fps. This is full power 10mm Auto ammunition developed out of G20, G29, and G40 pistols. 500 rounds per order. This ammunition is designed for best accuracy and functioning in 10mm pistols. There are companies that will load hot 10mm +P ammo, but it will cause cycling problems and accuracy issues for stock pistols and Glocks. When I have pushed the speeds up beyond the normal operating 10mm pressures, accuracy was very poor and failure to chamber and eject problems began. When you load to standard max 10mm pressures (non +P pressures), the 10mm shoots very well and is very reliable. That is where I load this ammunition. It is a standard max full power 10mm Auto load, and works great in all 10mm pistols. It is NOT 10mm Auto loaded to 40 S&W speeds.

If yall want some factory 10mm ammo that aint watered down look at the Sig Sauer Elite V-Crown. Haven't tried that one out, my go-to Carey load if I wanted Factory ammo has been the Winchester silver tip for years, it is almost a full powered load and that is unique amongst the major ammo manufacturers I guess until recently. Haven't used Chad's 10mm loads either but I suspect they're pretty close to what I've been loading for a long time, the only difference is that I'm shooting them out of a 6-inch barrel revolver when doing my load development which may account for the higher velocities that I have seen.
