Thanks guys! It’s been a great year - blessed with a new grandson (our first), completed the Grand Slam of sheep on a grueling 20 day hunt back in September, and now semi-retired (just doing mediations now, no more trial practice). Everyone healthy and happy. Life is good! Thanks freerange. To boil it down, it was a long, tough hunt but a great adventure. The outfitter asked that I commit to a 21 day hunt because the rams can be hard to locate. My odds were about 70/30 against but I think the Covid mess actually upped those odds given that the area basically had 2 years to “rest”. The biggest issue was that the water was only in the canyons so we couldn’t stay up high for days on end like you can in places like the Yukon.
As usual, you get stronger as the hunt progresses and I sure saw some beautiful country and became a much better horseman. Those horses are incredible! But they can only get you so far so I still lost over 15 lbs. I was sure glad to get the ram at the end as it was looking like it wasn’t going to happen!
