I graduated from TTU, and still go there several times a year to see friends that are still living there. It’s a good place.

This is pretty spot on. I’d do broadway before the depot. Bier Haus, and Miguel’s, to go along with chimys and crickets . Seen too many guns pulled in the depot to make me not wanna go back. It’s a shame cuz the blue light is a good time.

Also, caprock is a great place for a cold beer, but the food is trash. I recommend capital pizza in tech terrace. Great pizza and a great bourbon selection. Get the right bar tender and a single is basically a double.

I prefer Cast iron grill over pancake house.

I’ve lived in Lubbock for over 20 years and have never smelled the feedlot east of town. Y’all must have sensitive noses.

All this attention on sightseeing & bars. I would consider touring the campus, checking out the library & other facilities and meeting with professors, students and other staff members.

I really loved living in Lubbock the 6 years I was there. We typically hit up Orlando’s on Indiana when we visit. Loved Triple J when I lived there, heard it changed ownership and isn’t as great but still good.

Not sure it’s the same as it was but Lubbock always felt smaller but had everything the bigger cities had.

I think the campus will surprise you on how pretty it is. I enjoyed my time there, made great memories.

The official campus tour already scheduled for Friday, they do all the things mentioned.

But I like to do the “Peterman” tour on my own. Seinfeld reference.

My kiddo graduates from Texas Tech in the next month or two. Has a full-time job waiting for him when he graduates in supply chain finance. He was on the President's Scholarship (grades) so that's four grand off tuition which made Texas Tech an absolute bargain. He loved it there. I would argue there are more Texas Tech hiring managers in Dallas-Fort Worth than any other school. Excellent education. And a very conservative environment.

Conservative is something worth weighing. Especially with these indoctrination camps.

Another Vote for TTU. Graduated back in 2012 and would highly recommend sending kids there. Great school

KU while one of the safest areas for college would be the absolute worst for conservatives. Bunch of liberal professors there. Sounds like she didn't give it a second look though.

If I had to rank the places I’ve been, KU would be last.

KU had a weird vibe, even our tour guide said she didn’t want to be there. Facilities were pretty old, everything was old.

They do offer about 12k a year off out of state tuition with a decent gpa.

If y’all are football fans you might enjoy eating at the Texas Tech Club where you overlook the field.

Italian Garden is better than Orlando’s that’s been mentioned several times for Italian food IMO.

I’d recommend doing some quick research on housing and spend an hour or two driving around looking at areas where those potential options are located to get a feel of the town and neighborhoods. Generally the eastern part of Lubbock is the sketchier parts or all commercial. New growth is mainly focused west and south. A couple of the major roads with good areas to check out are Milwaukee, 82nd, 98th, 114th.

34th is the street to drive down if you want a breakfast taco/burrito. There’s about 3,456 options on it alone.

Lubbock shooting sports has a great indoor range.

I don’t know if it’s the same but while I was there 2003-2007 and lived there until 2009 it definitely had a conservative vibe. Lots of west Texas kids, I didn’t hear any leftist agenda BS from professors while I was there.

Tech alum here, great school. Haven’t heard Jazz get mentioned but that’s an excellent Cajun restaurant (order the chicken A La Mer, thank me later)

Tons of great food for it being a college town.

Greek life is superb, there’s a sorority for every type, rich/pretty to chubby/middle class, everything in between.

Not a lot of woke idiots out that way.

Cheap flights between LBK and Dallas too.

Tech is the 'Bama of national meat judging (didn't know there was such a thing until recently). Nat'l champs a whole bunch of times.....the meat place is worth a visit. Great medical center, very conservative, great people. You won't smell wacky weed when you walk across campus unlike UT.

Cagle's Steak House
Lubbock Breakfast House
Italian Garden
Cast Iron Grill

Get your hush puppies on.....Tech's campus is HUGE.

Filet was very good. Drinks were good. Crime brûlée was good.

Got a tour of the suites after dinner.

Graduated TTU AgEd in 1999, both my boys are dead set on TTU. We have done one college visit and I’m blown away at the progress that campus has made in 20 yrs. While I can’t fully endorse college as a path to success TTU is doing it all well. I worked in the meat lab/TTU MEATS for two semesters and fully support their AG program. Great town and best college in Texas. I’m married to an Aggie and that place seems really WOKE to me. One man’s opinion.

This is from experience. If she likes to party Tech is the place to go. If she doesn’t like sandstorms and cold as hell weather then it’s not the place. My daughter made it 3 semesters before they sent her home but she was the Valdictorian at Midnite Rodeo.
