I got that in my email just a while ago, too...and I thought "this does not seem like such a great idea."

I've never had a negligent discharge from a select fire M16 so I don't really see this being a problem.

If you are part of the population that received training on said feature - no problem whatsoever

I’m relating that we have a lot of untrained people out there who may make a poor assumption about the physical position of their safety - and for what ? A novelty item …

I didn't get one from Uncle Sam, I was shooting one provided by my grandfather. Guns are simple device, he was a combat veteran many times over, and he taught me well.

Now that I think about it I fired a select fire M16 before I was even old enough to buy a semi-auto AR-15.

Is the point of this so that a person can make some other changes to the AR and make it full auto?

Safe
Single Fire
Full Auto

You’re like me, taught by experience not necessarily trained by MIL - LE but handy with a firearm and mindful of the features.

What makes me cringe is that this part is now adding a 2nd semi auto firing position to the weapon. There is no value-added here simply an additional opportunity to discharge the weapon.

For a novice or dense person this feature gives them 2 fires and 1 safety whereas before it was 50/50.

I’ll admit when “new” people join me at the private lease or hunt I am usually well aware during firing strings to listen for the safety to engage (audible flick). With something like this , that goes out the window …

Why? What's the purpose of this? Another example of creating a potential problem, not solving one.

Just changing the safety selector does NOT make the rifle Full Auto. One needs the FA Drop In Auto Sear as well. Guy in video is just another "hobby hack" that knows very little about the rifle.

It's for morons who want it to be able to be in position 3 thinking other people will see it and somehow be impressed.

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

Don’t forget wearing the ball cap backwards 24/7 with those shades. I steer clear of that combo. Lol
