I drove a 1976 Jeep CJ5 Renegade, covered in mud, to my prom. Girlfriend loved that Jeep.

I agree. Kids can drink and drive in a pinto and get you jammed up.

Nothing wrong with rewarding a hard working kid.
I’m pretty sure the kid who took my daughter to prom in the Maserati isn’t 21. His dad rented it and gave him the keys. He’s a very nice responsible Mormon kid.

He's probably cruising around his parents 40k acres in Wyoming with a smoking hot BYU coed.

I raised five daughters and will say that the limo/fancy party bus approach is the wisest choice.

A Democracy is when two wolves and a lamb vote on the dinner menu. That is why this country was specifically not designed as a Democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.

If I ever need to know what is wrong with the world, all I have to do is find a topic like this and read it.

Daddy never cared about what vehicle I was going to drive anywhere. I don't think he cared if there was gas in the tank.

Let me guess, I’m a terrible parent and spoiling my kid because I wanted to do something special. Kid was just in a car wreck and scared the hell out of me but thankfully he was fine. Again, some of you tough guys really have life figured out, we should all follow your perfect examples of life, parenting, and know how. How does a guy like myself get by from day to day?

well now this thread is actually interesting.

is it the helicopter parenting, The generosity, or anti generosity. You kind of need to define a statement like that.

Kids don’t come with an instruction manual, unfortunately. You change crappy diapers on your new baby and go from there. As a parent, you can do everything right and still have a bad result, or be a rotten parent with a great kid. We do our best and hope for a good outcome. And then come the grandkids, and as an old uncle told me once “you think your kids are so smart, till they start raising your grandkids”. So true.

I don’t think I’d want to raise kids in today’s world.

But…spoil em while you got em…you won’t have them long.

Truth. Sometimes God throws a huge wrench into the equation.

I think the majority of the latest generation is going to be more conservative than the last 4 generations. All of my friends kids haven’t done half the crap I did when I was their age. All are very polite and very respectful IMO.

No kidding. Glad my parents weren't so boring. I got to rent a convertible Camaro for my senior prom....it was pretty cool for a high school boy. You know your kid better than anyone and if he will be responsible with it. Turo is the best option, great service and you can rent pretty much anything you want.
