So, with the new AR pistol stuff going, what are most people doing?
Option 1- do the free tax stamp now with sending in your picture of the AR pistol. And what are we thinking as far as the wait time would be for paperwork?
Option 2- Do you just SBR the lower and pay the $200 stamp? (No picture, and you can add a rifle stock)
(asking for a friend!)

I'm doing nothing at the moment. I actually don't have anymore pistol braces, but waiting to see where this goes before I SBR my Micro 300. I'm flipping back and forth, as you know, whether to stay with the micro 300 or sell and get side folding long stroke piston JAKL and SBR it. I probably won't go back to a pistol brace.

I already had 4 registered SBRs, so I'll just pull the lowers off the pistols and keep the uppers to use on the SBRs
My Ruger Chargers are not as easy, and for those I'll probably just install a "rifle" barrel and conventional stock.
I picked up a 16" Take-Down SBX barrel from TacSol for my TD Charger. 12" barrel with a permanently attached silencer 'shroud', only a couple inches longer than the factory barrel with silencer. Removed the SBA3 brace and put an MOE stock on, presto: Lightweight rifle.

I’m probably going with the free stamp. If it’s not processed by the deadline, I’ll just pull the braces to comply with the absurd ruling and reapply for a paid stamp. The whole thing is ill conceived and is a gross abuse of delegated authority, but I’ll comply with the rules as they are enforced.

3 - Nothing
The past has shown the unelected folks making laws isn't fairing to well for them. It'll get over turned and that's what I'm waiting on.

(asking for a friend!) I'm waiting a while to see what happens. Comments on your Option 1 as I understand: - Some are already coming back approved. There is another thread here with some approved. - A picture is optional not required. If submitting a picture it can just be a close-up to clarify the markings (since engraving is not required). - After it is approved it is an SBR so you can then add a stock.

I changed out my barrel to a 16" barrel I found on sale. Leaving the brace on for now and will see how long this rule stays in effect. If I find a cheap upper receiver, then I will put my other barrel on it.

Im doing nothing. Still got a long time before the window is closed, and I expect to see some results out of the first batch of court cases before then.
Im not a lawyer, but I've read the whole thing from ATF and spent over a decade dealing with them in several different capacities. This all just smells like a trap set in desperation. According to their logic, the simple version is as follows-
1. If you own a braced AR pistol, you are a felon 2. You need to send us a picture of your felony and all the pertinent info regarding your felony 3. If you do so, we will elect not to prosecute you (this is a non-binding offer) 4. We have 88 days to approve your owning this item. If we do this, you are GTG, but your firearm is now permanently registered with us. 5. Logistically speaking, if everyone actually followed this rule, there is no way we could actually approve everyone in that time window 6. If we can't approve you in that time window, your application expires, and you've just handed us all the tools to prosecute you.
Soooooo, yeah. I want no part of that. As far as they are concerned, I've made my AR pistols compliant, and I'll wait to see how the court cases shake out!

His thinking is clear. I do not know the outcome but must presume it's a trap set by people who wish to punish us for being free. Is this the only trap or is it simply step one or two or three to the "master trap"? Those who set the trap are criminals themselves so we should not expect anything resembling fair treatment. This is what you get when stupid people think that a tyrant with free money is better than a patriot who values freedom.
"Group think" is not thinking. It is the lack of independent thought. It is a cancer of the mind.
