Well, got out this morning by shooting light (6:30 am) north of Frisco. The action was slow but steady. There were birds around, but a lot of them were flying through the middle of fields where there weren't any hunters (smart suckers!).

We used 2 mojo decoys, and boy did they work!! We had groups of 4-6 doves trying to land right on top of them! A few actually did land, and I would send my dog in to flush them! The birds that came within range were definitely drawn to the mojo decoys. The ones that were out of range didn't see them.

Here's a pic of my dog Gus and the morning kill.

So why didn't you move to the middle of the field?

If you can't lick your own, you can't sit on the dog stand!

Because then you'll miss the birds flying along the tree line. It's a loser's game to keep moving around a field hoping the next group comes over. In the end, it all evens out.

The best is to have hunters scattered all over the field, firing away. Then all birds coming through the area are moving all over. Makes for the best hunting.

I agree. If there is not a bunch of shooters around the little bastads will just hang out in a tree, fence line or power line.

If it weren't for the hunters on the property next door this AM, it would have prolly sucked.
