I am planning to build a pergola this spring and wondering where the best place to buy red cedar is? They sell kits but Id rather build it myself to fit my back patio perfectly. Im the DFW area and can transport it myself.

Call Phillips lumber out in de kalb. Most of the time the drive is worth the price.

We buy ours at My Cedar in Dallas. Cedar Supply is another option, but they price a little higher.

We bought some cedar for our camp house. Ordered it through Lowe’s was best price we found and convenient.

best price i found a few years ago was dallas cedar lumber supply on forest dang near in garland. bought 6x6 posts at a salvage and surplus outfit.

Seems there is a saw mill in Elkhart that sells cedar.

My neighbor has some dead cedar trees that she wants removed. Probably close to a dozen trees. They are 30+ feet tall. I measured the circumference on 3 of them and those were 49, 54, and 71 inches. Just throwing it out there. They are located in Kurten which is just east of Bryan.

That is what my neighbor did when he built his patio cover. They dropped it in his driveway. City inspector happened to be driving by one day and asked him if he pulled a permit.

depends on what your wanting. Simple lumber you have lots of options but I have done two major remodels on 2 homes in the last 6 years and the beams and post plus the other stuff Leroy Jordan had what I needed. Not cheap at all but the other places mentioned above did not have or could not get me the large sizes I needed.
