Went through Junction, Texas last weekend and happened to notice what looked like a bunch of buzzards in the area. Anyone else noticed the buzzards being back from their journey south for the winter? Sure seems early for this to be happening. I have not seen any further west.

The buzzards here don’t go anywhere. There is a nearby roosting area along a creek where more than 100 buzzards can be seen 365 days of the year.

I guess ours are farewell buzzards. They are here during the warm weather and when it gets cold, they bid us farewell until the warm weather is here to stay.

Buzzards at my house year round. Just dodged about 20 yesterday on my way to town. They love dead skunks.

They are here year round too. There is a water tower about a mile from my house. There has to be 100+ on it every afternoon.

Black headed buzzards stick around, red headed buzzards migrate. I haven't seen any red headed ones in Western Val Verde County so far.

I have tons of turkey and black vultures here year round. The Mexican eagles are here now too. I watched a gang of them kill a neighbor’s goat last week.

This is not a joke!!! The official name of the subdivision I live in is "BUZZARD ROOST". When original owner decided to turn what was a hay field into a subdivision, there was an old pig pen at the south end of the field and the buzzards covered the trees early in the morning and roosted there at night.

The red headed ones around here never leave. I've noticed more black headed buzzards lately than red heads.

Black Vultures migrate south in the winter and large flocks call Texas home this time of year. They'll move back to parts north in a couple months. Turkey vultures (red heads) migrate as well, but on a smaller scale and in smaller flocks so it's not as noticeable.

To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.

They never leave my area. I have not fed them any fish carcasses lately but still see them.

A couple of "scouts" are there when I drive out to reduce the over populated pests, and in a short while more show up for the feast.

In the North Texas area, I see Black Vultures year round. Occasionally we will see a Turkey Vulture in the winter, but not as many as we see in the summer.
