Thinking about picking up some property in Eastland County around Gorman, Texas. Previously hunted in Coleman and we had good deer population, good Turkey and of course lots of pigs. How is the deer hunting in Eastland County and any good intel around hunting in the Gorman area specifically.

Eastland County can be avg. to very good for deer and turkey, as usual will depend on how surrounding properties are/have been hunted. Around Gorman, some good hunting land..

I know around Cisco the hunting was pretty decent.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I owned 77 acres in Carbon, about 10 miles north of Gorman. Good people on three sides, if it's brown it's down on
fourth side. Killed some very nice bucks. Most came to my food plot of oats and peas. Never measured this one but
It is my best to date. My wife also got her best there. Only reason not there is man offered more than I could turn down
six years ago. Wish I still had it. Only saw a couple of turkey and killed a couple of hogs. You got any other questions,
feel free to ask.

I still hunt near where Mr. T hunted. Not to throw this thread off topic, but that boy is becoming a man and it just hit me looking at pics and dates. Anyhoo, Pretty good deer population. Pigs come and go on our property but we do not run feeders or plant food plots. Had a really good turkey population, but they disappeared. They have done that over the twenty years a time or two. Not sure of the reason, but hopefully they come back this Spring.

js4242 is just a mile or less from where my property was. And as he said, he does not use feeders or food plots. He
and his son have killed some good looking bucks. And WOW, he has truly grown up since the last time we had
breakfast together at the gas station.

Thanks for the information Mr. T and js4242. I am curious about food plots in this area. Does it get enough natural water or do you need to irrigate them ? I would be running both protein feeders and corn feeders year around and I plan to look at the property this weekend so will try to get a feel for the pressure around it. I have night vision so love to hunt yotes and pigs as well.

I used to hunt just west of Cisco out in the mesquite and pear flats with a few hardwoods. Some very good bucks out that way depending on the size of the place and your neighbors. It's very different out there than eastern Eastland county with the oak and hardwood stands.
