Which do you prefer and why? Blue Book of Gun Values ($45) or Gun Traders Guide ($25)?

Gun broker completed listings for me personally, things change alot faster than they print those books. If your going for niche stuff I could see where a book may be more useful but that's usually not the kind of market I'm in.

Guy I used to work with bought the blue book every time an issue was available, we used to compare it with the GunBroker completed listings. Sometimes it was spot on, sometimes it was off. But that's just my 2 cents

Value is one thing. What you or someone else will pay is something else.

I prefer Blue Book. Mind you, I barely use it for values. I use it a lot more for as a guide o figure out specific variations of specific guns. Figuring exactly which version of a browning superposed or an old colt or Winchester you are looking at is a lot easier with the info in the book available to you.

Yup.

They can be used as kindling. But so can free cedar branches.

Just don't use GB completed items price and expect to get that locally. Only use the GB price if you're insuring or planning on selling on GB. No one here will pay GB prices in most cases. That's why so many listed here don't sell.

Pass the gravy.

Texasguntrader.com is another online resource that offers more local pricing and completed sales.

People who print these gun value books make their living selling books, not selling guns.
