I did see the 360 Buck Hammer from a few different sources, sounds like Winchester wants to steal some of the spotlight back from Remington.

Interesting, the 400 Legend does not appear to be based on the 223 Rem case like the 350 Legend is.

I'm not seeing any clear indication of what if any its parent cartridge was, it's not an extended 10mm Auto, it does have the same bullet diameter though.

First I’ve heard of it. Maybe a more modern version of a 401 Winchester?
The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

It looks like it has a 6.8 SPC case head, so I guess that'll simplify making bolts/magazines.

I made that one about a year ago , to add to my Bandit line of cartridges [ started over 25 years ago ] . The 45 Bandit became the 460 S&W and the 357 Bandit became the 350 Legend . I also have the 44 B and 500 B . The 40 bandit is based off of an altered 303 Brit case . Shortened , blown out straight and the rim cut off to rimless [ 6.8 size ] . It is set up for 200 - 220 grain pistol bullets and will for in an AR-15 . I figured it to be no big deal as it is only about 8 % more powerful than the .357 Bandit and the cases are much more work . I did post about it here a while back .

Wow I never would have guessed .303 British as the parent cartridge, seems like just about every dimension has changed.

That was the easiest case to get a slight taper and hold a 40 cal bullet . The case head size is the most important as you can not change that . Rims and extractor grooves are easy to change , as is the case length and blowing out shoulders . The 45 Bandit [ 460 ] was first made from 7.5x55mm Swiss . S&W added the little rim as they told me they did not want to use a moon clip , but they did anyhow on the 350 L version of the gun later . Since the cases on all of my Bandit cartridges headspaced on the case mouth , the thicker case neck wall formed from using the lower part of the rifle case helped .

A while back when I started those cartridges a hard part was making AR-15 mags to feed them . Now with so many mags being made in so many other cartridges it is easy to find one that will work with anything I come up with .

I wonder how many of these new cartridges will be orphaned within 15 years? I’m a sucker for latest and greatest, but most of these are head scratchers.
