I can get a brand new 2023kawasaki mule 4010 with 14 foot trailer for $16,000.
No wench, windshield, brush guard, top.
Or,
2017 Honda pioneer 700-4 deluxe with 14 foot used trailer for $10,500.
Has wench, 2017 Honda Pioneer 700-4 Deluxe
Has new 28” mud lites, new windshield, and a new battery. Has some scratches and normal wear and tear. Rear seats fold down flat for bed space..
I want the best value for my dollar. Don't care about speed, etc. Just putting around the
farm.

If you are all about riding for fun, I suppose I’d get the Honda. If there will ever be work involved, I’d get the Kawasaki. For me, I need a work capable machine.

Suspension on those 4010 is not great, but that thing will run forever. If you're going slow and the roads are flat, I'd go with mule. If you want more comfort and a little more speed, go with the Honda.

My 2014 4010 Trans Mule was a workhorse. Never had a lick of trouble. It, unfortunately, had a suspension Fred Flinstone's car so I upgraded in 2020.

Both reliable manufacturers.

Mule for work
Honda for play.

Neither one. 100% based upon your post, I’d look for a Kaw mule FTX, even if it is used. That’s the best value for what you’re needing.

Something like this: https://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/snw/d/fort-worth-kawasaki-mule-pro-fxt-le-eps/7581822910.html

that is up there a little IMO but if it is just for use around your farm it would probably be ok - I would ask the current owner if and when regular maintenance was done on the machine - good luck

I run away from used machines with over 400 hours.

The mule will be most reliable thing you ever sat in, itll also be the roughest ride on this continent.

You'll be worlds happier with a Mule FXT as opposed to the 4010. Yes, you'll pay more for it, but it's one of those buy once, cry once type deals. Much better in both power and ride. That 4010 suspension is much like a golf cart. It'll get you places, but you're going to feel it.

I'd get the Honda unless you need a crew cab. I have the same model and love it. Speaking from experience with a Bad Boy, a rough suspension will piss you off every time you drive it. Also, if the Mule doesn't have power steering that sucks too. But, I'd look for a Honda with less hours.

There are many Pioneers with miles over 50,000 and still going. I have a 2016 1000 and all I do is maintenance very dependable and no belt.

If you want to work, haul corn to feeder, maybe a bail of hay, fix some fence, pull a trailer, go with the Saki.
If you want plush ride and don't intend to work it, go with Honda.
Years in the future, the Kawasaki will still be running, still have a rougher ride and still be going.
Sitting in the showroom, the fit and finish on the Honda are top notch but unless you keep it inside, the nice finish will start to go away on the Honda won't be near as pretty within a couple of years but the basic mechanics will still be good.

If you don't use Stabil or similar fuel stabalizer, they will be a pain to start in the Spring, if they even start, the fuel injection is fairly prone to plugging from the piss pour gas we have these days.

As for hours:
1. How it was maintained trumps how many hours it has.
I would take a well maintained 2000 hour vehicle over one with 400 hours and never had an oil change.

2. I have two Mules, a 2001 with 2200 hours and a 2005 with 2300 hours.
They are both still stone reliable but have had regular oil changes, always ran Stabil in the gas and only use WIX filters with Castrol GTX 20W-50 oil.

Cheers,
