The chamber specs for the PRC are a lot better and in my opinion have more potential for accuracy. The 300 Win Mag has a very short neck and sometimes that is an impediment to good accuracy. I believe Mason Precision Reamers is offering one for a 300 Win Mag that has an improved tolerance chamber and I'm considering buying one because I have a lot of Win Mag brass and I don't think I can hold the required tolerances on the PRC if I cut a chamber by hand.
Edit: Full disclosure, I have not shot a 300 PRC nor have I built a rifle in that cartridge yet. Have been shooting 300 Win mags for more than 30 years and the PRC is on my build list.

My question would first be, what are you using the gun for?
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I’ve had both and selling my current prc to get a 7prc as it’s a flatter shooting gun overall

I have shot a whole lot of rounds out of both, doing load development and getting DOPE to 800 yards.
Same primer, powder, bullet, the 300 PRC makes a bit more velocity. If memory serves 50-100 fps. I will have to look in my log book to be sure.
The PRC lost the belt, straighter case body, better should angle, more case capacity, longer neck. Hornady took the things that the Win Mag needed improved upon and improved them.
If I were getting into a 30 cal Magnum to hunt with, the 300 PRC would be at the top of my list.

If this were truly a hunting rifle, only seeing range use for sighting in and getting DOPE, which way would you lean when it comes to 300PRC vs 300Wby? That’s where I’m stuck simply because I want a 30cal magnum and both of those calibers come in the rifles I’m looking at.

Last I looked Weatherby brass is big bucks and so is factory ammo. I'd stick with the win mag or the prc for a mag 30 cartridge if I were you.
Trolling? Heck no, I meant every word of it.

It pretty much makes Win Mag ballistics. And as was said, go look at brass availability and price on both. I never like those rounded shoulders on Weatherby cartridges.

If you travel the world for hunting you may want to stick with a 300 Win Mag because that ammo is available pretty much anywhere in the world.

I've always thought that they did that because it reduces tooling cost because the reamers last longer and so they could sell proprietary really hot rodded for its era ammo.
