I’m seriously thinking of buying a same as new Les Baer premier 45 then to recoup my money selling a real nice S&W model 27-2, 8 3/8” barrel and also selling a Marlin model 30AW. 30-30. I’d get a whole lot more use and enjoyment out of the Les Baer and I’ve always wanted one.

Not a thing wrong with that plan. Sell guns you don't use, buy ones you will use.
Otherwise, you just have assets in the safe, collecting dust.

Otherwise, you just have assets in the safe, collecting dust. Yup. I have a few that I won’t sell, but if I end up with duplicates in a cartridge or get bored with one, it goes to a new home. I’ve probably bought/sold/traded 100 guns, and I only regret getting rid of two.

I've owned all of those, I'd get rid of those 2 for a Les Baer .45 any day. The Les Baer is the tightest 1911 I've ever owned. It has a 500 round break in and needs it. Once you go through the 500rds, it will be the nicest .45 you can have short of a Wilson Combat.

To each his own. I have a lot of guns that I’ve had for a long time that I’ve rarely shot and probably won’t. Safe queens and somewhat collectibles.
If I felt like you guys, I would have one hammer, one pair of pliers and a helluva lot less tools than I have.
But, I draw the line at women. One is more than enough. .

Unless it was passed down to you, I don’t see any point in owning any firearm you don’t shoot or have a purpose for, with certain exceptions.
I was gonna buy a 1970’s model Mark V .270 wby that was unfired, seller asked me what I was gonna do with it and he refused to sell it to me when I told him I was gonna hunt with it.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

In the same boat. I have collected for YEARS and have a storage problem. I hate storing boxes and cases. I have many duplicates and triplicates so I'm thinning the heard to buy what I am actually going to shoot with the exception of a few collectables.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

That seller is the definition of Fudd. Yeah, that's dumb. Knew the guy personally for a few years prior. One of those guys who always thought they had a better mouse trap to completely common and routine scenarios. Most people know the type. He called me seeing if I knew anyone who wanted to buy some guns he had sitting in the safe, I offered to buy the weatherby. Exact words were “ I won’t sell it to you if you’re gonna hunt with it, it’s a safe queen”

i think what you will get for the sale of your two guns is going to disappoint you.
Less Baer $2500-$3,000
M-27 $900 Marlin $300

M-27 $900 Marlin $300 The Marlin isn't worth more than $300 to me either but someone will overpay for it more than that. Yes, I know what a 30AW is in relation to a 336 (generic hardwood instead of walnut is the biggest difference). I do however agree they don't add up to enough to break even. I just sold two VERY nice units to a friend because of lack of use. Money was nice to have at Christmas. I don't regret it...yet.
Pass the gravy.

I've done it. Guns are made to be used. I have 20+ and only two are heirlooms, that get used.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

I do have some guns that I intentionally purchased so make them into heirlooms. Those will never be sold or likely shot. They are wallhangers that will be handed down. I also have some guns that I have rarely shot but wont sell because I bought them at such a low price compared to what they sell for now that I cant help see where they go. I will forever regret selling my russian AKs and surplus 5.45 ammo.

Sold off two semi-collector types recently. Should probably do more. Don't have a lot of them but I have a bad ratio of almost collector stuff to usable stuff. Like above, I have some stuff I got at the bottom before the lid blew off. Priced an O-PAP lately? What about a waffle top? Boxed three screw Single Six Magnum with the optional LR cylinder? How about a Peanut 39A? Can't sell them but don't shoot them.
Pass the gravy.
