I was covered up with ducks until we had those 3 days of zero degree Temps. After the big freeze the ducks disappeared. Do you think the extreme Temps pushed all the ducks to south Texas? Did the birds disappear on Y'all too?

Nah, we are past the winter solis. The birds are moving north now.
But yes, the bird #'s have decreased significantly in the area i hunt.

I can tell you there were thousands of Sandhills around my deer lease prior to those 60 hours of below freezing. The are gone and have been since right after Christmas.

Zero degrees? It was cold, but not that cold lol. I had a great hunt "after" that front hit Thurs/Fri, this was Saturday morning Christmas eve. But yeah not as many birds now.



Last weekend found a hole holding probably a thousand teal. It was the only spot I found holding birds. In the morning they just poured in 15 minutes before legal, for 15 minutes I was waiving off birds, once legal struck, it was a quick easy limit.

We didn't pick up any additional birds down south during the freeze in the areas I hunt.

They went back north on that big south wind that happened after the freeze.

No worries. Towards the end of the season and into Feb we will get some more artic blasts to push birds back. If we are lucky it happens before the season ends.

I tend to agree with this.....There are still a lot of birds in the area, but no big groups in any given spot. Scattered in other words.
