I have an old Remington 788 chambered in .308 I bought at Gibsons in 1972. I havent fired it in 20 years, I think I paid $110 for it. Are they worth much. I do know at gun shows 788s in certain calibers bring 600-700 dollars.

Fantastic rifle. Don't sell it for less than $600.00

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

I have a carbine in .243. Great rifle. If you do sell it, it'll go fast.

Just pillared and bedded one for a friend. And boy did it need it!

1/32" of slack between the recoil lug, and the stock recess. After that, and a barrel cleaning, it put two inside 3/4" at 100 yards. Third shot it will sling low left, due to heat. But, as a hunting rifle, two is plenty.

The most valuable calibers are…

30/30
44 mag

Those should bring $1000 plus if they’re clean

If yours is clean it should bring $600

I have a few and owned others. Currently just have one each of those 4 calibers

$110 sounds fair to me. When can we meet up?

30-30
44 mag
223
6mm
7-08

I have the 223 and it has always been a shooter, I bought it for my son when he was 3...he is 15 now, ill never part with it

Mighty fine guns as far as I’m concerned. My 223 is is arguably the most accurate rifle I own and it’s 100% stock from the factory. My dad has 243 (not a carbine) the accounted for many a hill country deer when I was a young kid and his 22-250 shoots great as well. I think the $600 mark is on the light end of what it’s worth if it’s clean.
