I agree that axis venison is even better than white tail. Never tried fallow. How does it compare? Thanks

IMO - fallow is one step under white tail, the meat is a little darker too. Have only killed/eaten 2 fallow does though.

I’ve killed 2 also and we liked it better than whitetail and would say it lays perfectly between whitetail and axis.

How is that for making it clear as mud wink

Out of the common exotics it’s (imo) the least flavorful and I rank it along side whitetail, which I’m not crazy about.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I would agree it’s on par with whitetail which I’d prefer not to eat. Hands down Red Stag is the best exotic I’ve eaten

Agree, not sure if could tell the difference if piece of backstrap from those 2 were cooked the same at the same time.

I always though fallow was more mild than whitetail.
I know a few folks that prefer it over whitetail and axis.

My experience which has been limited to just 2 or 3 of them is that it makes pretty good sausage but I really didn't care for the backstraps as steaks.

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

I have only killed and ate 1. The backstraps were good, similar to whitetail. But I found the ground and roasts to be very fatty, to the point that it was off-putting

He is not wrong about red stag. I shot a red deer hind in December and got it back from the meat processor Jan 2nd. It might be the best game meat I’ve eaten.

Same as white tail. For meat, I’d rather shoot an axis, red deer, oryx… this list could go on. People don’t shoot fallow for the meat, the does cost more than whitetail and the meat is similar.(I’d rather shoot blackbuck does) People shoot fallow for a buck mount!
