In the stuff we went through at a relative's house after his death were a vintage 8 oz Red Dot can, and a 1 pound Hogdon 4831 can. Both had a little powder in them, but likely not usable. I wondered if the cans themselves might be collectible? Any idea? Pic attached. The price tag on the Red dot looks like it was $1.34. He wrote his load for 30-06 on the 4831 can.

They are absolutely collectable but unsure of the value. The old gun oil cans, gun cleaning kits, old ammo boxes, etc. have all gained in popularity over the last 15+ years as people look to decorate man caves in firearm themes. I use to collect old empty ammo boxes just for fun and could buy just about anything under $10 with many still having ammo in them. Now you cant touch hardly any of that stuff under $10. Same thing with the old Shooters Bibles. Use to be able to buy those from less than $5 each but not anymore. Vintage gun stuff is hot right now but you wont get rich off of it.

Some of the old gun oil and powder cans bring good money on Ebay. If you have an account to sell there that is your best bet. I know some of the old Browning and Savage oil cans can bring big money. There are a lot of variations in vintage gun collectables and I am an expert on none of them. I do know that what most would considered trash 10 years ago can now net you a quick $100 bill though.

Should bring you $5 to $10 each.

The cube shape containers bring more because they are more "repurposeable".

At a recent gun show (maybe Wannamacher) there was someone selling old powder tins for $25-35 each with a cactus re-potted in them. I would be willing to bet she made more dollars than some of the gun dealers or ammo flippers.

Those are really cool. That said probably not worth a ton. Agree with Murph.

is that a $1.74 price tag on the right? Awesome!

Bill, I think it's $1.34. But could be $1.74. Don't we wish it was still that cheap?

Those are really cool! I never find good stuff like that when I dig around the parents place.
