Dont know if Ive ever seen this poll. Curious to see what folks think and who is the top dog pistol mfg. Since there too many to list, maybe we stick to mfgs that are used in US military and law enforcement. Sure, your Taurus or Cabot may be great but they arent carried by our military or police. Think I have the top 4 today captured here but I left an Other option as well if I missed one.

Had CZs for over 20 years with "maybe" 1 or 2 failures. Several pistols with zero and a LOT of rounds fired. Have a P-07 that is Cajunized and it may be the best yet. (Hard to beat their Shadow 2 for competition)
Some may laugh at this but I have shot Bersa 9MM handguns for about 20 years and have not had a single failure to feed or fire. Same results with two friends. 17 and 13 round pieces with a lot of features.
It's not what you say, or think, that counts. It is what you DO!

Glock runs away with this, as posed in the criteria of this poll. This is why I have 3.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

A real hunter never returns empty handed. Spending time in the wilderness temporarily satifies the soul, but leaves us longing for more.

Are CZ and Taurus used by US military and leo agencies?
CZ makes nice guns. The 75 platform is amazing and one of the best ever made, but I dont know they are used much my m&p in the US.
Taurus makes budget guns and Im guessing used by m&p in budget countries

I know Taurus specifically designed the tp809 tp845 etc for m&p use and that some foreign did adopt it. I'm not saying Taurus is the best, they aren't. I just think the question is like asking which M&M taste best. I voted S&W

How did Beretta and Colt not make the list I thought about Beretta because they did have a really good run in the military but I dont think they are seeing much use today in the US. I love the M9 but even Beretta’s attempt to modernize it hasnt taken off.

You made the rules to this poll, and both the Beretta and Colt 1911 are are still being used in the military and by popo, so they fit your rules. Way more Berettas than hk for sure. Any way they are all good guns, except for sigs, sigs suck

I have both a Beretta and Colt and they are the last 2 guns I grab when it hits the fan. They are just antiquated. I think alot of military and LEO would disagree with you about Sig. My bet is that Sig is actually the top dog in the circles that actually use their firearms for their job. Im not a huge Sig fan but damn sure respect them (not the P320 though).

Thought about them but I dont think they get any love from any US military branch or Leo agency. Seems like they started gaining traction with the XD and some agencies adopted but then petered out. Im a Springfield fan, they make great guns.

M&Ms are all the exact same construction - inside and out. Just different colors on the outside. Are you saying that every pistol is the exact same inside and out and just look different? We know thats not the case so your analogy doesnt make sense. Now is a black Glock 22 the same as a fde Glock 22 - yep they are the same.

Last Beretta for military use rolled off the line in 2021, they'll be in Frontline service for a while yet. The Marine recon unit or whatever it's called still uses 1911s, or at least has the option to use them I don't know if everybody gets one. Sigs still suck. Worst double action trigger of any main line dasa gun, s***** ergonomics. And then you have the 320 which probably is not going to go off when you want it to, might go off in your holster, decent chance it's going to blow up, and might shoot you in the [censored] if you drop it. And it has an ungodly high bore axis if you believe in bore axis stuff And while I don't stay super up to date on what the seals are using, pretty sure they traded in their sigs for a Glock 19

I don't think in any circumstance could Glock be considered "Top Dog", except possibly reliability....they are on the lower end of mid tier pistols, are ugly, not ergonomic, have poor triggers, and zero factory upgrades. They have two pistol designs (single and double stack) and have done almost zero innovation in what, 20-30 years?
I'd go Sig and then M&P, but I think those two are very close.

I don’t think Glock is bad gun, they are great for the people that the Corolla mindset. My P226 is over 80,000 rounds, not all without issues, but a spring here and there is just normal wear & tear. Will a Glock go 80,000 rounds? IDK and hope I never have to carry one to find out.

Working in the business and going to some high speed schools every now and then in the North Texas region here is the order I see the most
1. Glock 2. Sig 3. Tie - Walther, Stacatto Very few HK, MandP Very Very few 1911, CZ,
0 Taurus as they aren't allowed on any lists
Most departments are married to one brand when it is an agency supplied gun
It is also very hard when the king of duty holsters Safariland doesnt even offer an option for a level 3 holster to many brands.
I personally see the fewest problems out of the Glocks. It also has the largest sample.
