hey guys I have a hunt coming up where I have about 1 to 2 miles of beach and marsh to hunt for pigs. Corn is allowed. I dont have a lot of experience with baiting as I am a natl forest hunter mostly.
I have 4 bags of corn but can buy more if yalll think I need it. When spreading out corn over open areas I assume I want to spread it out and not make it easy for them so they stay a while and eat. I was thinking I need to concentrate in 4 or 5 areas with good shot opportunities, Basically my question is should I heavy corn or light corn these areas? Is 4 bags enough for 2 days/nights of hunting or should I double it up?
Thanks Big

Too much is better than too little. Corn can be helpful for two things: to encourage pigs to return to an area, and to slow them down for a better shot opportunity. When you put down corn, be sure you understand why you are putting it down. Don’t forget that wind direction is king though.

Personally I like to spread it out. I have seen more than once hogs run off from a pile of corn but never from thrown corn.

Oh yes. wind is everything when it comes to pigs.
I have heard that a pile of corn is not a good thing to do but spreading it out is king. Thank you for confirming.

Start putting it out several days before the hunt. Wish I could but I only have 48 hours to hunt starting at noon so my first order of business it to get it out for sure.

Pour big box of cherry jello powder in corn sack before ya spread it around. They can’t resist it.

After the acorns are gone in say Feb or maybe sooner they will come to that stuff pretty well. We put out the bagged stuff not a block. It is powder soybeans and acorns I believe, some chunks in it.

Some of the public draws limit bait to aflatoxin free corn only. Not sure you can add other stuff to it. But others allow "bait" so...
I put out corn for hogs on a public draw hunt once and walked back to my tree on the left side of the corn. Hog came in, went to the corn and stopped when he got to where I walked. Backed up and moved away. Fortunately he move in my direction. I learned a lesson that day. And I also think it should be spread out some. There used to looking and rooting for food. Finding a pile is like finding a hot model on your porch waiting for you to get home. She looks greats but we both know there's a catch somewhere.
