i got tired of driving 80-100 miles a day round trip from my stomping grounds to the motel. also cant stand some of the undesirables that motels bring in hanging out in the parking lots. so i bought a used 17 foot lightweight casita travel trailer. what do you do?

Have a 29 Ft. Travel Trailer and a 12 Ft. Teardrop Trailer that I built myself.

Depends on the length of the trip and distance...

The teardrop is great for a short trip, but is pretty minimal.

In the past it's been motels. This year I'm camping in a tent. Don't know if I can take 2 weeks in MT. May switch back to a motel. Got a good air mattress and sleeping bag so I should be good to go. Stuart

You can't beat a bird dog and make him go.

I stay in a motel. I enjoy taking a shower in the evening (and morning) and I have fresh water to clean the birds in back of the motel. The ice machine is good enough to keep the birds fresh until I get home. Heck no, I'm not rich but I save a few bucks here and a few bucks there until I have a little pile of cash for hunting season. Works for me.

Sometimes its a tradeoff. Me and Stinkbelly stayed in a tent in Kansas last year for almost a week. It was doable and cheap, but heating water to pour over you in the cold is not the best fun I've ever had. If you pull a camper, sometimes the cost difference due to gas mileage can almost pay for your hotel. I like a shower, but I can rough it too. Just depends on your "mood."

In New Mexico we stay in a tent. In Texas it's a motel or trailer.

We stay in a motel. When, not if, Murphy's law kicks in I have one less thing to deal with. If I owned a large enough tract of land to hunt (quail or pheasant) I would give serious thought to parking a camper out there for the season.

The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life. Theodore Roosevelt

I normally pull an RV. I like not having to worry about my dogs out in the parking lot of a motel, and with the RV I can get everything packed and hung up in the closets so I don't have to dig for stuff. I normally hit up a Sam's on the way out of town and get all the food stuff I am going to need for the week. I also sleep a lot better when every door that slams in a motel isn't waking me up all night.

I have two little girls; which means if GI Joe ever got to take a vacation he should come to my house...Ahhh, Estrogen Land! Where lonely barbies abound without a single man in site.
