Lot more speed and D1 talent in those Duncanville and Desoto, Galena Park Northshore teams and they are coached with discipline to boot. Very different than those Freddie James coached Dallas Carter teams of late 80s that lacked bare discipline and were all athletic talent.

I saw very very little discipline today.

Yes it was. Our team played hard and gave it their best. GR received lots of great emails and posts from Carthage parents and fans. Maybe next year!

Well, it was a relative comparison to a team stripped of its state title. Surprised Desoto got Guyer that badly; Duncanville beat them handily, 41-17 in district this year. Did Arnold have an off game in the bad weather?

Aledo wins 17-14 over top ranked Longview to advance to 5A D1 final, taking on College Station. Aledo looking for 10th championship since 2009.

Never mind, reading in DMN that Guyer was gashed for 437 yards of rushing, 224 by their stud sophomore Riden whom has 15 plus D1 offers already. Giving up nearly 450 yards rushing is a surefire way to get bounced from the playoffs.

Congrats, get that rematch title game with College Station when Aledo missed the 2 extra points to lose by 1.

Will be watching a couple of local teams. Matt panthers and China spring. One of my friends kids plays on the China spring team.

Some great semi-final games this past weekend including Vandegrift over Katy.
North Shore is a MONSTER again and will face Duncanville in the finals for the 4th time in 5 years. Will Duncanville finally get one or does NS make it 4-0.
And 4a D1 Boerne has really surprised me. They put a beatdown on Chapel Hill last weekend.

I suspect there will be quite of few of the 20 games this week that are very, very close great games!
Here are the games with my picks to win in Blue

2a D2
Albany vs Mart - This is a complete tossup game IMO. Both great programs with tons of history. Mart 7-4-1 & Albany 2-5 in Finals games

2a D1
Hawley vs Refugio - Another one that's probably a tossup. Hawley is 0-1 & Refugio is 4-5-1 in Finals Games

3a D2
Gunter vs Poth - Gunter on paper by 2-3 scores. Poth is 0-1 & Gunter is 2-2 in Finals Games.

3a D1
Brock vs Franklin - Should be another great one with Franklin as slight favorites. Brock is 1-2 & Franklin is also 1-2 in Finals Games

4a D2
Carthage vs Wimberley - Carthage may be the biggest favorite all weekend. I suspect Wimberley will fight but just too much D1 talent on Carthage. Carthage is 8-1 & Wimberley is 2-1 in Finals Games.

4a D1
Boerne vs China Spring - CS is a slight favorite in this one. CS is 2-2 & Boerne is 0-0 in Finals games. If the stage isn't too big for them, I like Boerne in this game!

5a D2
Port Neches Groves vs South Oak Cliff - Another tossup I think. Should be a great game. PNG is 3-3 & SOC is 1-0 in Finals games. Can SOC repeat as champions?

5a D1
Aledo vs College Station - Aledo is a 2 score favorite. Aledo is 11-1 & CS is 1-1 in Finals games. Will Aledo get revenge for their only finals loss in their history?

6a D2
DeSoto vs Vandegrift - DS is a 2 score favorite to get their 2nd title. DS is 1-0 & Vandegrift is 0-0 in Finals games.

6a D1
Duncanville vs North Shore - Another game that is a tossup IMO. NS has owned this matchup and 3-0 the last 4 years against D'ville. D'ville is 1-3 & NS is 5-0 in Finals games. I think this is D'ville's year to shine.

Heart breaker for sure. My cousin is the head couch in GR. I watched them slaughter Monahans the week before.

GAME DAY!!!
#1 Franklin will play Brock for the 3A Division I state title.
Brock started off the season at #1 but after dropping their first game, they went to #2 and Franklin moved up to #1 and has been there for the rest of the season. Brock ended up losing its first 4 games but have rolled off 11 straight wins. They are the hottest team going but Franklin is the hardest to stop on the run game.
Tonight they go head to head. Should be a great game.
If y’all get to watch it on TV, look for me. I’ll be in a long sleeve green T shirt!!! grin

I was surprised to see Brock with so many losses until I saw who they played. That had to be one of the most difficult Non district schedules in the state.

No doubt
They played a hell of a game without a doubt!
I honestly thought this game would be much, much closer than it was. Albany was all business!
Congrats to them on the state title

Second only to South Oak Cliff. South oak played three state finalists. Two in 6a

Well, I'm fixin' to start out 0-2 on my picks

Hawley is layin' the wood to Refugio right now at half 34-13.
