We hunt with western Kansas pheasant hunts out of montezuma. Drought has reduced the amount of cover, places I used to dread walking 6 years ago were now reduced to almost nothing. We got lucky and snuffed out a couple of birds

Going up this weekend to beat the end of the season. Will be hunting east/southeast of Dodge. Went out a few weeks ago but my buddy lost his old Brittany so not much hunting. Thankfully it was found 11(!!!) days later.

I lost one up there for 3 days one time, but 11 is craziness.

Hunted Friday and Saturday near Mullinville and Coldwater. Friday missed a few (nothing seemed to go right), but very few and far between. Mostly very wild birds (to be expected late in the season of course). Saturday was better. Figured out the birds were in the thickest cover you could find near grain and they would hold a little better. Looking for pheasant but ended up with 3 in hand between the two of us and a half-dozen bonus quail (which we didn't chase - just shot them if we came across them).

Hat and a collar with your contact info on it.
