It should say “ Minder of other peoples business”.

It is better to not give a flip about other people's problems. It will make life a lot easier.

Noble and naive is how it strikes me...helping most folks that look for someone else to solve their problems is A) futile most times, and B) Earns you eternal blame for everything that goes wrong in his/her life from then on...more power to you sir, and I do mean Noble with a capital N...

That kept me employed for 40 years, making good money. I've passed the torch to someone else, done with that.

Good point Angus; if the gent is referring to making bank with his goal, that's a whole different thing than how I perceived the post...

Some of you guys amaze me - reference had nothing to do with making money but rather helping out others when ASKED to do so. If I have the knowledge in a certain field or area and can use that to help someone out then I try to do so - simple as that

I strictly try to live by the motto, "Don't make others peoples problems my problems". It's one of the best pieces of advice I have ever gotten.

Many people have come to me in the past, asking for advice or direction. Some are small decisions and some have a big effect on their future. I have always listened, considered the facts carefully and then gave them my opinion.
Which they promptly ignore and do exactly what they were going to do anyway.

Let's put my post into perspective. I do not walk around looking to get involved in other's problems. On the other hand if someone comes to me needing help with an issue then if I am capable of helping them I try to do so.
Perfect example: One of my and my wife's best friends called me yesterday. The wife has terminal cancer and has been going through treatments all this year. Their health insurance is through the husband's employer from which he retired - they got the open enrollment paperwork in the mail and she thought they were going to cancel her coverage due to all of her claims. She was in a panic.
I had her send me the paperwork so I could look it over and called her to tell her that they cannot cancel her coverage and that their plan would automatically renew as is. She burst out crying because they were thinking they were going to lose coverage and have to use their life savings to pay her medical bills out of pocket.
To me it was a pretty good use of my time and experience and when I have other opportunities to help someone else out then I will do my best to do so.

Very nice of you to help during a bad time for them, they ask and you helped. I like minding my own business, but I have been asked many times for something and I helped the best I could. My daddy would worry about other peoples problems but not in a good way, then he would turn around and not take care of his own.

I guess there's a little of that in most all of us on an informal inner circle level...I don't have strangers walk up to me wishing for help, but I do attempt to do what I can for friends, family, and associates when quandaries arise...thanks for the "perspective" you offered, as it cleared things up for this imaginative and idle mind looking to converse on here about anything and everything with other good ol' boys...the old saying "no good deed goes unpunished" fits most any time and any place in my world and in many others', in the event I was among the folks that "amazed" you...the world needs more like you sir, a tip of my brim and all the best in your future life's goals...I'll look forward to following any success stories you care to share going forward!

Hey - you know how the financial/insurance business works - you give lots and lots of advice and support - I have had some of these clients for 40 years - whatever I can do to help them in their time of need I am committed to do - has nothing to do with $$ - I am retired - but it has literally become a mission for me to try to provide them (and their family) support any way I can -
