Any of you guys have any experience with one?
I looked into getting a hard shell but didn’t want to have to have it on all the time and didn’t wanna try killing myself taking it off by myself, the softopper seems to make the most sense for what I want, I ordered one 2 weeks ago and it still hasn’t shipped yet.
Just was wondering if y’all had any experience with them.

We had a friend with one and as soon as he went to Home Depot with it, it was slit up with a rock knife while he was inside...not a real good deal if you carry stuff in the bed and have to leave it unprotected I'd have to say, based on that...otherwise, yours should work great for what you're looking for it to do...

Yeah, you’d be dumb to leave it unattended with valuables in it. But I also think you’d be dumb to leave your truck unattended with valuables in it, period.

I have hard shell, I only put it on a few months out of the year. Mainly Sept-Nov.

I use to be able to put it on and take it off myself, then I knocked out my back window back in sept…. roflmao

I guess biggest question is why do you want one. The why may be able to give better alternatives.

If you leave valuables in it and unattended, then yeah, you’re dumb.

Mainly for my 8 hr trip to deer camp, not wrapping bags in trash bags and not having to worry about chit blowing out and my dogs having to just suck it up when it’s rainy and cold LOL.

I’m in no position to be taking a hard top off by myself anymore, I used to pull the hard top off my 74’ blazer with the windshield back top off by myself and it had 38” gumbos on it, but I had a deep ditch to back it in to do it. That was 30yrs ago LOL.

Even on trips to deer camp, someone is with the truck. You do you. I’ll do me.

They are about as useful as a soft top on a jeep. They’ll keep stuff dry mostly but other than that, kinda worthless because they provide zero security, cant support any weight, and dont last in TX sun.

I’m not really sure what to tell you, I don’t leave my truck unattended with valuables in it, ever. (Guns and such) tools yeah, a few, but on my trips to deer camp, never.
I have a disabled wife that can still shoot a pistol. She stays in the truck when we have to stop.

My point exactly...you asked a simple question, got a simple answer, and started calling everybody that does exactly what you do dumb...not sure why somebody would do that but you do you... cheers

I did 4hr trip today and stopped 3 times with over $6k of guns in my bed. Even sat and ate inside a restaurant. A real bed cover and strategic parking go a long way.

roflmao huh?

IMO, if you leave guns and chit in your truck unattended, then yeah, I think that’s not real smart. My boss and his partners had their rifles (all custom rifles) in their expedition and stopped at gringos on the way to a hunt and while they were eating some thug POS broke into the expeditand stole $7,000 worth of rifles and scopes, to me that’s dumb to leave that chit unattended.

Well, i think you just dont want to hear that most ppl taking an 8hr trip are gonna stop, use a bathroom, eat a meal, and have to leave valuables in their vehicle. That doesnt make them dumb, it makes them human. I have a top of the line bed cover, back my truck up to the front door, request a window seat at the restaurant, and dont dress like a hunter when Im traveling to give myself away….but Im still dumb for leaving valuables in my truck.

No doubt - a parking lot full of trucks toting tools of the trades are lucrative pickings while the operators are in the store for tools, supplies, and whatnot...

I would throw lowes into that mix as well, although not as bad.

I’ve had chit stolen from me and it sucks. That’s why I am the way I am about it.

Thanks for the input fellas. grin

None are secure, even the locks on hardtops can be punched out with a screwdriver. If you’re looking for dry then they will work.

I’m sure it’ll work for that.
Best luck and Merry Christmas, y’all!

agree. I like the full fiberglass A.R.E. tonneau covers. keep stuff relatively safe and waterproof. Look good and you can't haul a bunch of your family's chit.
