I need a new gas grill. Been looking at the Napoleon Rogue with an infrared side sear burner. I like a really good sear and I like a truly rare steak. The Napoleon is $1200 and I don't want to go much over that. This particular model has stainless grates which I do like. Anybody got a Napoleon? Other suggestions?

Look into a salamander style gas grill. It cooks the steak from above, like the fancy steak houses do. I have one, and love it. You also do not get any flare ups when cooking burgers or something fatty, since it cooks from above. I use it mainly during the week when I don't have time to fire up my big Primo wood grill.

That's the one I'm looking at. Good to know your experience.

There is a solid tray underneath that you wipe down.

Weber Kettle. Skip the gas, Biden is shutting down propane next.

I only see those in propane - do they make it in natural gas (what I need)?

Blaze grills gets my vote. I’m not sure of the prices though. When I was looking 2 years ago I was also looking at Napoleon. Do some research into who their parent company is and the actual quality of the material used. Only the lid and grates are good quality stainless, the burners and bottom, which is the parts seeing all the abuse are a much lower quality stainless.

Seems like the burners are always carp. Blaze grills are more than I want to spend but good point about the components. Companies get cheap to increase margins in places that aren't obvious.

I just bought a blaze built in LP grill and like it. You can opt to replace the left side burner with a sear burner.....
I think the burners are lifetime warranty....but I cannot remember.

My Blaze is 8.5 years old and going strong. I outfitted mine with all regular burners and bought an additional infrared burner (for underneath). They're easy to swap as wanted. I also have the rear infrared and rotisserie which are nice.

That sear side burner is amazing. The rear sear makes for some great chicken legs and wings

My weber gas is going on 20 years old, have only changed the flavor bars and igniter in that time.

I bought a Napoleon from BBQ Authority a few months ago and love it. It was delivered extremely fast. I have the side sear station and love it for searing tuna steaks. So far no complaints!
