Turned out of Gaboon Ebony with a flame colored band. I’m considering doing a nice flat-topped 3-point checkering pattern between the two decorative lines on the barrel. Sounds sort of duck like too, granted I had an RNT DCX toneboard to copy.

First coat of oil. Over the coming weeks I’ll wipe a coat on, let sit for a few minutes, then wipe off the excess. Should create a nice satin sheen after a while, the flat top checkering will come after the finish is done and should create a nice contrast.

How much would you charge to make one?

I’m not sure that I want to start offering anything commercially. Plus, I can’t make one as inexpensively as one of the big makers. Many of the current smaller/midsize makers will make their calls from your specified or provided materials.
