I have a PSE Thunder Flight and shoot 260fps at 70lbs. I am wanting a new bow just to shoot faster. I have bow hunted four years and yet to take a deer. I keep thinking to myself I need something faster so when the opertunity arrives I will be ready.
Thanks, Jigfish

I shoot a 65# recurve. 291/2 inch draw. It shoots a 500 gr. arrow about 190/200 FPS. Killed many many deer in Tx. and mulies in N.M. not to mention to many hogs to count in TX. Don't worry about that much speed. Tune your bow make it quite and practice practice practice and when the time comes get the grease hot!!!!! Good luck Craig

Jigfish, 260 fps is plenty fast. My PSE Whitetail Extreme shoots around 225 fps. As long as you can consistently hit a 4-6 inch target, you will be fine. Pay attention to the wind and where the deer will most likely appear from, and you'll eventually get your shot. Get your stand up at least 12-15 feet, wear full camo, and hunt. Man, I'm so ready for September 30...

My BowTech VFT Patriot Dually shoots 281 fps at 29" and set to 68lbs. I shoot Beman, 400 ICS Hunters, cut to 26 1/2" and with Bohning Blazers and Muzzy 3 blade 125's, thru a deluxe WhiskerBusquit droptine rest. Your bow should be quite fast enough. Goodluck this coming season.
Hunting is more to me than Antlers on the wall. It's more about the memories you make, and sharing those memories with friends, and family.

Has your 4 yrs of hunting not offered you a shot or are the 4 yrs of setting in your stand and thinking of the shot got you wondering about every little detail the reason i ask is i done the same thing i hunted an area where there was not very many deer and to bowhunt was not an option to many hunters but i would set there for hours and while i was setting there i would pick things apart at the time my bow would shoot around 270 fps and that was one of the things that i would worry about but when that doe finally showed all questions in the back of my mind went out the door i agree a quite and comfortable bow kill just as many animals as a fast bow as long as your shots are less than 25 yards

Your bow is in no way the problem. Your current bow is plenty fast enough and should produce enough KE to get a complete pass thru with proper shot placement on a whitetail.

Just got to get them close my brother and his cousin both got their first bow kills with pse spyders sest on 40 lbs. Within 15 yds speed doesnt matter gotta get that sweet spot. 30yds and out have a little more to do with how quite your bow is not so much the speed. Also shot placement

If you get that out of a recurve, you've got a good set up. My first bow, a Pearson Diamondback with round wheels and 55# shot 32" Easton 2219's at 185fps. That bow retired after 10 yrs of success season after season. Recurve I had was noticeably slower.

My first bow kill was with a Bear Whitetail II I purchased from Oshmans for $100. I shot it at 22 yards. I was only shooting 185 fps. I am now over 290 fps. My shots have been from 10 yards up to 40 yards. 3/4 of my shots are under 20 yards (15-18 yards). Your bow is fine.
