Have a game winner feeder and every time this year I’ve gone out there the feeder doesn’t work….Put a new battery in there in August and again Oct 1 as I thought that was the issue. I’ve realized once I clip onto the battery springs and try to close the cover, the screen goes blank and loses power.

A few questions: Do you guys use the 6V batteries with the springs on the + - or just the little metal terminals?

Also any idea what could be causing the issue? I finally got it to work last night after climbing up and down my stand 3 different times to ensure it spun, but it’s apparent the feeder hasn’t been working all season as I unfortunately had 0 pics on camera.

I use metal terminals, hard to say what's a matter maybe the spinner was stuck or maybe with the springs you weren't getting proper connection.

What model feeder? How old is the timer? May wanna look at replacing it. Is it doing a Test Spin when prompted? I would check connections and timer first. Maybe switch to a 12v battery

If I have one that still uses alligator clips or spring top batteries, I will hit the test button, then get the cover on real quick and stand back to make sure the connection did not get knocked loose pushing wires or whatever so I can make sure it is running with everything closed up. Mostly though I like to use rechargeable batteries with terminals, cut off the alligator clips and crimp on terminal connectors, then it's solid. I think I have one with a game winner unit on it, but i long since replaced the digital timer with another one. Those cheap timers can and do go bad. I have enough feeders, that I always keep a spare feed timer, battery, battery charger, and wire crimps in my lease camper for backup. I rebuilt a friends feeder at the lease just a couple weeks ago with my spare timer and battery so he would not have to run all over town trying to find a timer or end up going home leaving his feeder not working. As much as we spend on hunitng already, I would just spend that few bucks more and replace the timer and battery with better connectors and be done with it. Nothing more frustrating than the sun coming up opening morning and your feeder does not go off.
Good luck with it.

Wanted to add, make sure it is not a problem with the solder where a wire connects to the motor. It would suck if you replaced all that and found it was just a loose or corroded connection at the motor. wink

Had my Triple C feeder for 21 years and never a problem......almost...... When it was brand new, the circuit board went out the first month. Didn`t know till the sun came up on opening morning and 20 pounds of corn under feeder. Got a new board from Triple C and no problems since.

Also make sure those "new" batteries are fully charged.

Don’t buy cheap feeders first and foremost lol but you need to use the terminals without question. Every man needs a cheap multimeter in his truck so buy one and check the voltage to everything and eliminate components one piece at a time. It sounds like a loose connection somewhere and it could be a bad wire, bad motor or the timer itself but with a $15 multimeter you can figure out the source pretty quickly.

If you don’t think your capable of diagnosing it on your own feel free to pm me and I’ll walk you through the steps or give you my cell and the next time your at the feeder you can call me and I’ll tell you what to check. Feeders aren’t complicated and about as basic of an electrical item could ask for to troubleshoot. I’m happy to help out of you need it up

Some of my feeders had a fuse holder on the positive lead.. Sometimes they would make bad contact. I removed them and ran the cable direct. You may want to look at that if you have those type.

An All-Seasons "The Timer" should be your next investment. Nothing worse than opening morning waiting for your feeder to go off and nothing happens. Let me say that will only happen to you once!

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

I use the batt's with the push on terminals, no spring terminals or alligator clips. But I use the spade connectors regularly in my line of work so I always have my terminal box on the truck anyway. Good, clean, tight connections are a must with any electrical component, or problems will occur.

As mentioned above, unless I'm in a rush and have to buy a batt local, I always charge a new battery before it goes on a feeder. No telling how long those things sit around before being sold.

I usually get 2-3yrs of problem free use from the sealed 12v batt's, with a solar panel of course.

I only use 12v. Every place I’ve ever been on the guys who use 6v have many more problems than th9”ode who use 12v.

Also, do you use a solar panel? If not I would add one.
