I've only found this on the outdoor annual
https://tpwd.texas.gov/regulations/outdoor-annual/hunting/new-this-year-hunting

New mandatory harvest reporting in Collin, Dallas, Grayson, and Rockwall counties.
Modified definitions of ”buck“ and ”anterless“ deer.
Modified proof of sex requirements for harvested buck deer.
New definitions of two types of commercial cold storage facilities.
Modified tagging, proof of sex, log procedures, and destinations for cold storage facilities.

It’s in the handbook what you can kill in each county for 22-23 so if they opted to change the rules after the fact the best of luck to them.

I would be shocked if it was true.

Whoever said that is wrong. It’s extremely easy to look up harvest limits by county and there is absolutely no statewide ban on shooting a doe. Maybe a specific county but that’s it.

yep, just found montgomery county's regs.
If you read part way, it sounds like you can't take doe in general rifle season.. but further reading, Antlerless Nov. 5-27th.
So False.

Since you have Conroe listed which is in Montgomery county look at that county in https://tpwd.texas.gov/regulations/outdoor-annual/regs/counties/montgomery

Looks like Antlerless in November only the 5th through the 27th. Consult you game warden for clarification

It looks like there is "no antlerless harvest on National Forest Service property" during the general season unless you have a MLDP tag.

General Season
Nov. 5, 2022 - Jan. 1, 2023
Antlerless Deer Nov. 5-27, antlerless by MLDP tag or hunting license tag, no antlerless harvest on National Forest Service property; Nov. 28-Jan. 1, antlerless by MLDP tag only.

None of these doe kill limitations are new. When I hunted east Texas in the early 2000s, you were NEVER able to legally kill does all rifle season long. There have always been doe days...nothing to see here.

It happens a ton - people get some snippet of conversation or catch part of a headline and start disseminating a full-blown story out of something they have wrong. Cletus tells a few people and then it goes nuclear. Cletus might have even gotten 70% of it right, but by the time it gets to the third or fourth-hand source, it's nearly 100% inaccurate. One like this seems so bad - I mean, STATEWIDE doe harvest? And nobody has heard anything about it until the start of the season? Such a thing would have been loudly shouted WAY back when TPWD announced it.

Common sense isn't a flower that blooms in everyone's garden.

I have a permit, issued by the state of TX, for the Gene Howe WMA in Nov that allows me to take 2 does with a rifle. Your bother's friend is a fool.
