Anyone know approximate going rates for this ? Got a quote of $8.50/sq ft to remove old siding and install Dryvit. Approximately 3000 sq ft. Never had this kind of work done before nit sure if this is a good or bad price.

Just me, but I wouldn't have the stuff it it was free. Some home inspectors will not inspect a home with the product because they can't know if it was installed properly.

It HAS to be installed over some type of lathe that allows air behind it. Many installers placed it directly on Tyvek or some other underlayment and the OSB under it rotted out completely.

As a Realtor, I can tell you that because of the internet and all of the nightmare stories online that it is hard to sell a home with it.

I built homes for over thirty years before getting on the Realtor side of it and can tell you that many builders have been in court over EIFS. Luckily I wasn't one of them.

It is an excellent material when installed correctly I have never seen it installed on lathe like traditional plaster. I am not wild about mounting electrical gear to it you have to be really careful it is relatively durable but difficult to mount things too it holds paint really well and adds a good bit of insulation. I had it on my house in Rockwall after 15 years it still looked really good.

We decided to go forward with it. Who knows if our house will rot and fall apart but so far am very impressed.

They started by removing all the existing siding. They then coated the house with this blue rubbery stuff. It went on like paint but it is like liquid rubber. It’s almost like that crap you dip tool
handles in. I’m sure it seals the heck out of the house.

Once this was applied to every square inch of the house they covered it all with 1.5” thick foam. Here is a picture with some of the foam and some of the blue goo.

They then applied some kind of fiberglass mesh and put a base coat of material on.

After that it was time for the final top coat with color.

The new roof is underway now. Spanish style tile. We are also adding ten arches across the front porch.

Your backyard looks like a resort. Be very hard to give that up.

It was there during the big freeze. No issues.
