That's good news. I'm hunting in two weeks. I really don't care if I get limits. Just a few birds will do.

I saw a lot of birds on the power lines in Robertson county Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Had too much work to do to hunt,

The ranch I manage where cleatas hunted had a few birds, but none of my other places did. The neighbors across the road from cleatas planted wheat last week. I think that was the draw.

Here in western young county. Been here since Tuesday. I haven't seen 20 doves the whole time and that is counting 2 trips to town.

I been see birds in Haskell county all season, it’s spotty but there are birds. Last couple weeks been seeing big groups, yesterday saw groups of 50 to 100. The are hard to shoot though. I been waking the sunflower fields all season and shooting them as I flush them, but yesterday, I could not get anywhere near them before they take off.

Doves showed up at the house this morning. I have had the same 2 for a month. This morning I saw a flock of 8. Migration is on.

Went on our cast-n-blast at Port mansfield this weekend. Dove hunted in the afternoons. With 15 guys between Friday and Saturday everyone got a limit both days minus one guy got 14 yesterday. 1 bird shy. I bet the field we hunted had a thousand birds flying around. I've never seen so many birds. I personally shot my limit both days in less than 30 minutes. There were groups of probably 50-75 birds at a time buzzing our heads. I'm trying to book another trip and I've only been home for 3 hours.

I hunted Monday evening in Bell county near a pond and saw a few doves killed two. Plan to go later today. Are there any reports of the cold front moving birds south?

I really think we have some changing patterns or numbers for morning dove. I hunted Graford for years and then it just went to nothing. Granted, there were 8mm acres of sunflowers but I didn't see birds on any of it. South of us and west of us (for the most part) the bird numbers have remained strong every year. But now we're seeing some softness just west and south. I hope that is the drought.

I will say, Southwestern Arizona, a very dry place, seems to have birds every year. I think there is more grain raised near that area, but as long is there is water, there are birds.

My gut is telling me there are some long-term trends happening that we don't have a handle on yet.

All the top guides in the wichita falls area had a [censored] ton of birds the first week of the season. Then they never really posted again. Not sure if all their birds left or maybe they still had them, they just didn't post about it. Most likely they didn't have them.

I’m agreeing with 59; something is going on. Is there a different farming pattern going on with these northern birds? Are they growing different crops? Who knows.
