If you were going to go to Alaska and were going to buy one shotgun for the trip, which would it be?

I like both the A400 and the SBE.
It would boil down to which fit me better
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

A400 has all sorts of adjustability and should be able to fit nearly any shooter.
It's light-shooting, very reliable, and very fast. I cleaned mine after my first 500 rounds and it was a total waste. They're very clean and just fantastic guns

SX4 and maxus are to similar imo. Shooting experience A400 as I’m a beretta guy, but utmost reliability hands down benelli. From a mechanical standpoint inertia is inherently by design more reliable.

Look at the Franchi Affinity 3 Waterfowl Elite. It’s 95% of a benelli sbe. At $600-800 less. Imo best value for an inertia out there like the A300 is to gas guns.

One of the artic/very cold countries I believe either Finland or Sweden did a test for reliability in the cold and the two that were at the top of the heap were the k98 and the Mossberg 500. If you do cross country skiing when there are polar bears they require you to carrya gun and those are the 2 they recommend and have for rentals. They do recommend keeping cover on the receiver of any gun for the best reliability.

I lived up there for several years. In my experience, the lubricant used makes much more difference in reliability than the gun. Make sure you use something that doesn't get thick in the cold, and don't use much of it. Mobil 1 5w30 was the best thing I found. None of them work reliably when it gets truly cold, though, so I shoot pumps.

Pretty hardcore test. Eye opening for sure.
