Rifle seasons opened up here for many areas. Spouse and I both have additional whitetail tags but in different areas.
He hunted this weekend but didn't see any WT, just small muley bucks.
I get to hunt the ranch this coming weekend for my WT and hoping the rancher's wife didn't run them off riding around while they elk hunted.
We have a couple of decent bucks hanging around and the spouse may try to take one of them later in Oct when general deer opens too.
Elk hunting also this weekend and hoping the bull we've been seeing is still around also. A nice tender cow would be great though too. We have 4 elk tags between us to try and get at least one or 2 filled for meat. Do you have whitetail, mule deer and elk all in the same general area? We hunted up around Alcova and none of that looked like whitetail country but i understand there are some populations down in the river bottoms
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

We have whitetail scattered all around the state now, just about.
We have them along the creek on the ranch, in the hay meadows and above them.
Mule deer are all over the ranch, creek bottoms, meadows and the hills.
Mule deer season, General deer season, opens Oct 15 in our area and goes until Oct 31.
You can shoot a WT or muley during general season, but WT only on the Type 3 WT tag.
We're allowed a Type 3 whitetail tag and a General deer tag in the same year. We have to apply for the WT tag in the draw and can go buy the general tag OTC after the draw.
Our elk area on the ranch is general elk area too, OTC tags and cow elk tags are additional tags and easy to get for this area. We can have 1 any elk or bull tag and up to 2 more cow/calf elk tags, reduced price cow tags.
