There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

If you are feeding them duck, you can't really care about your family.

If you are feeding them duck, you can't really care about your family. Nor are you saving a dime!

I'd love to go to a blind with some guys and shoot the carp and ducks if they came by. Love sandhills for the same reason.

I do not because it is more fun than working or watching TV.

I do it to save money on meat for my family. I have never considered ducks hunting cost to meat to be $$ saving LOL but it is fun. Decoys, gas, ammo, waders, leases, on and on it'snot a cheap activity. It is one of the more accessible and affordable ways to hunt though. About the only meat getting outdoor activity I can actually say I could cheaply feed my family on would be running lines for catfish.

I am scared to do the math in case my wife reads this, but I would guess at the end of the season, I am in the $500/lb range.

If I was to hunt in the back yard with lead, trash bag waders, Clorox bottle decoys and a hand made call. I might come out even. Edit: lead bought before LGB was elected
