I am VERY knowledgeable with the process but thanks for your input. I still would not trust any airline right now. Traveled through Covid less but the last year have been traveling a lot. I check 2 bags usually because of traveling with PPE and sometimes other stuff including the occasional firearm. Have not experienced any issues except weather which is like typical common travel problems. The most major change was getting rid of masks. Makes things pretty close to normal. Personally I’ve had more issues with shipping and mailing than baggage with the airlines. But the key here is the OPs destination and airline routing.

GPS- I have NOT YET done it but that was my understanding. On my bucket list is a trip to Alaska "My Way" which means knocking around in the bush, etc. and I bought a stainless steel Ruger Bisley 454 Casull for bear protection. I was told the post office would ship it to Alaska and then I pick it up there. I don't think you can take a firearm into an airport- check the law. BTW- really like the 454 Casull.

Sure you can in the case. Make sure it's unloaded.

"You" cannot mail a handgun via the USPS. May a nonlicensee ship a firearm through the U.S. Postal Service? A nonlicensee may not transfer a firearm to a non-licensed resident of another state. A nonlicensee may mail a shotgun or rifle to a resident of their own state or to a licensee in any state. The U.S. Postal Service recommends that long guns be sent by registered mail and that no marking of any kind which would indicate the nature of the contents be placed on the outside of any parcel containing firearms. Handguns are not mailable. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun. One source concerning transporting firearms... TSA - Transporting Firearms and Ammunition

I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

I'm looking into shipping my gear to my outfitter rather than checking everything on the plane, this includes my rifle. What I am reading from UPS and FedEx is that only FFL holders can ship and receive firearms. I'm sure this is the case but I have to ask, is this true? Based on a discussion I had with a very knowledgeable man this morning , we have not seen anything yet in terms of shipping firearms, ammo and any other firearm related equipment. I hope he posts the information he has acquired in the last few days. Daniel
