What’s the general consensus here on the first o/u breachloading shotgun to be produced?

Woodward. But they had some weird ones before that. I know it was not Browning he was late to the show as far as o/u shotty. It was probably some small custom shop for some king 1828 they invented the shot shell .
Just some quick reading looks around 1830/ 1840. French/ Belgium makers

Woodward design that he sold to Purdey. Woodward then came out with his own 4 years later. And, yes, as hetman pointed out there were others before that, even flintlocks, that never went anywhere.
