I would add snake guards. They did their job once for me a few tears back. It scared they heck out of me. The snake guards stay in the truck now.

Danny boy, give your old buddy the 4-1-1. What is the bird situation looking like this year out West? Georgie boy got em? I know you been out scouting. Put a slot on your calendar for mid Sept out near Vernon. We got it dialed in out there this year bro, I think.

hey long haired dave the thermocell sare the greatest thing since sliced bread they absolutely work now ya have to change the pads about every four hours and the gas cartridge every eight but they will keep you bug free four as long as they are on ! chiggers nope only thing i found for chiggers is long pants and high top boots and a wrap of duct tape to keep the two of the tight to each other and then some bug spray ! but for mosquitos and yellow flys or deer flys they work great !

To keep the chiggers away, try filling a long tube sock about half full of Sevin Dust, tie a knot in the end of the sock and dust your boots, socks, pants up to the knees and your waist. This will keep the chiggers off unless you lay down in a tall field of grass. I keep the sock in a ziplock bag in my truck toolbox, always.
You can buy a small bag or can of Sevin dust at any feed store or Tractor Supply. Best I remember it think what I buy is labeled 5% or 7%.

so do you have to cut a wing and keep it for each dove you take home?

You don't need a wing in most cases. Only if you shoot collared doves (which don't count towards your bag limit) and you have a limit of mourning and white wings.

MSDS Sevin
http://www.cdms.net/LDat/mp496010.pdf

EYES: May cause minimal irritation.
SKIN: May cause slight irritation.
INGESTION: Harmful if swallowed.
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS: This product causes reversible cholinesterase inhibition. Repeated overexposure may cause more severe cholinesterase inhibition with more pronounced signs and symptoms. May lead to rapid onset of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, involuntary shaking, excess salivation, pinpoint pupils, blurred vision, profuse sweating, temporary paralysis, respiratory depression, and convulsions.

I guess we all have to be responsible for ourselves in the end. Read the data, and with our intelligent and rational minds, come to our own conclusions as to what to think.

Use Flower of Sulfur NEVER SEVIN

Sulfur is not toxic. Put your clothes in a garbage bag with a 1/2 cup of sulfer and shake up real well. Sulfur will also keep your cloth from smelling sour at the end of day because it kill bacteria and some fungus.

I didn't suggest you take a bath in Sevin or eat it.
I have been using it for 20 years and so far no body parts have fallen off. Well..........maybe one.
