I keep my guns in a hidden closet -------- but ------ I also have a gun safe that has 3 bags of concrete in it. Any thief would assume that the guns are in the safe and take the safe and not bother to look anywhere else for them. In my humble opinion a gun safe is an advertisement to "take my guns".

I know concrete has gone up in cost but keeping it in a safe seems a little silly.

Let me get this straight…. You’ve posted about keeping your guns safe while putting a pic of where they are on the internet, correct?

I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

Eh, I support the op for sharing. Unless the guy has his full name listed or his address somewhere who cares. Thanks for contributing and inspiring similar ideas. I know it'll be said that the Internet isn't anonymous and you can find anyone blah blah. But the effort to actually do that and then purposefully track someone down to get whatever he has in there isn't realistic.

One of my more interesting woodworking projects was to make a queen sized bed head that held guns, could be locked, and still looked like a nice bed head. I put gas type struts on it, so the guy could push a button low on the bed head and have the front raise slowly upward (not downward).

Not to sure about the concrete plan, but I'd leave the correct supplies out and hope a conscientious painter breaks in.

Thieves will be thieves. I still think a gun safe has better value than the closet though. 1) In a fire, depending on safe, you may not lose your guns. In that closet... BYE BYE 2) Children in the house? Guess what, they wise up and soon that closet becomes easy peasy to access compared to a gun safe. 3) A gun safe put in a location that is not easily accessible, kind of is a waste of time for thieves. You put in your garage, not bolted into foundation, sure it is easy target but you put in a back room and make it to where it will take an hour or more to get out, bet they don't mess with it.
I came home from a camping trip to thugs jumping out of my window. Come to find out, they had been in and out of the house 4 times. Guess what they wanted most... the guns in the safe. Guess what they couldn't get into or figure out how to get out of my house... The gun safe. I made sure it was in my master bed room, down a windy hallway and full to the gills. No way it was being moved full. Took a lot to get it in and get it out when I moved. Think a gun safe, used correctly and thought out, is not necessarily a way of saying "come steal me"

Definitely a very cool idea though and the creativity is awesome. But to use a gun safe and just put concrete in.... kind of a waste maybe? At least keep important documentation or ammo in it. No need to concrete fill it and have 0 purpose for the box.

I would put the safe behind the false door thing and have a special locking device on said false door.

I really hate to do what I am about to do, because it will be very painful for you.

Seriously though.... how often do gun safes get stolen? I have moved mine a few times and it's a chore. Yall have me thinking about doing something different now. I don't know of anyone that has ever had a big safe stolen.

I feel like advertising on an open forum where you keep your guns is an advertisement for thieves to steal your guns.

I don't know of anyone that has ever had a big safe stolen. Theives can't steal the bigger safes, too heavy Not true. I helped open a big gun safe store. Sold and delivered hundreds and hundreds of gun safes all over. Biggest delivered was a Ft. Knox big boy, weighed around 2400 lbs. I will say this, I saw many big gun safes stole out of garages. Many times, stole a truck out of the garage and 3 dudes could tip it over and drop it right in the bed of a truck. Sometimes they drug it out with a chain with a truck and off they went. We always recommended bolting it down to foundation. I dont care which company you buy, enough time and enough grinding wheels, you're cutting into one. Are they a deterrent? Absolutely! Are they absolutely safe, not at all. I always recommended putting them in a home somewhere, down a hallway or in a closet if possible. Some of the real nice show ones we would display but would always bolt down to foundation. We charged $50 extra to bolt down, not a single one I saw bolted to foundation ever got stolen. GOSH I DONT MISS THAT JOB!
