How did this happen? This grew out of the fortified cottonseed that we left two weeks ago before the rain.

I have seen corn grow from corn that sits too long. Makes sense if you put seed on the ground and it gets enough wet, it will grow

My Daddy owned the cotton gin in Georgetown for many years. Many memories as a child running around that gin trying to keep my appendages out of that huge and power equipment.
And Bill picked cotton, you know. Where is he when we need him?

Where was the cotton gin in Gtown? I remember the one one in Jonah. I thought I knew all the gins that used to be in Wilco. My dad farmed cotton between Taylor and Hutto back when almost everything was cotton in Wilco.

Yep, cotton farmers can obtain depredation permits.

Those deer will mow that cotton down. We grow cotton in tom green county and we loose acres and acres of cotton every year to deer. Its like candy to them.

Dads gin in Georgetown was just a couple blocks off the square. The Municipal Court is there now and beside City Hall. Between W 9th and W 10th and between MLK and West street. That was 50s and 60s.
My Uncle owned the grainery in Weir forever and eventually bought Dad out of the gin. That was right before Cotton quit being King, so Dad did good.
Dads farms were close to Hutto and between there and Georgetown.

Yep. That was right about in between 3 of our little farms. I don’t remember it being running even in the 60s.

Uh, i think or at least i learned in school, if you throw seed on the ground and it rains, it germinates, lol.

Ok now I remember the one off square and I also remember the Bell gin.

Reminds me of a funny story. A buddy of mine started dating a girl from RoundRock and she as at his parents house washing dishes in the kitchen window. She said where are all these trailer loads of feathers going? My buddy’s dad laughed and told her that’s not feathers it’s cotton going from the field to the gin.

We just had a guy on our lease start experimenting with cottonseed this year, the pics so far suggest the deer really like it...hogs too unfortunately. Did see a picture a couple weeks ago and looks like most of the cotton had hit the ground, wonder if we'll see some of this growth after the rains last week.
