Looks like a wind farm, 20-30 turbines have gone up within past 4+ months about 1-1.5 mile away from my property. From your experience, what kind of short term and long term impact on deer movements may this have? These look to be the only wind turbines in the immediate area.

A little at first, but that is from all the trucks and the construction of the turbines. After, with just the noise.... no effect.

Had a bunch of them on a lease out west. Several times I'd drive along the edge of a wheat field and the deer in it would go get behind one of the turbines and peak around it at me until I drove past. But I hated them (the turbines, not the deer) none the less.

I hunt almost directly under one on our place-the deer pay it ZERO notice. To them it's a big, white tree.

Good to hear, I know one thing. You pack 20-30 of those turbines on 1000 acre place and it looks pretty crowded and ugly. Lol

They are right by my place DQ. Ugly as hell. Hate them and anything to do with them. No difference in game activity that I can tell. Now I hope everyone of the gets hit by a down burst or lightning.

I hate them but they serve a purpose for our family and the animals don't mind. Help get a turkey gobble every now and then when they squeak.

I am on a lease in Mills Co that has these on a ranch that borders us. I have not seen any difference in terms of hunting. They don't look nice, but provide about 1/3 of the electric power we use in TX.

Too bad as they are not reliable when you need them. We should never have reduced the number of gas powered power plants or relied on solar to power gas valves.

A realtor told me that they decrease the value of the land and adjoining lands.

Few months ago a drilling rig was stood up within a 1/4 mile of buddy's property line. I was sure it would push everything away. Nope. Lot of noise, but deer, pigs, coons, coyotes.....just went around it while still making their near daily visits along the same trails on his property. I was amazed. Rig has been stacked for a month or so. Seems the only ones who notice are the bipeds.

During construction the trucks and equipment and people will keep some game away. But the work is confined to relatively small areas - its not like you'll have guys tramping across your entire lease.

One possible benefit is the construction will put in roads that may provide access to areas you couldn't otherwise drive in to.

DQ,

There are actually more turbines than what you can see from your place. We went out and filled feeders and counted over 50. They’re probably about 1 mile from us. One of our stands sits on a hill that can see all of them. Kind of a eye sore when you’re trying get away from city life. But it’s their land so they can do what they want I guess.
