OK, back to the "be prepared" bag. We all agree we should have some way to take care of ourselves inside or out of our homes. I just dont have a MOLE pack with all kinds of tacticool patches stuck to it. To each his own.

SO

What do yall think of the Springfield Hellion, Bullpup design, very compact, ready for any sighting system, AR magazines. Reviews have it making 300 yard hits with its folding sights. Could this be the ultimate SHTF gun?

It's a good option , here's another that folds away and is AR mag compatible

Buzz, I am very guilty of liking bullpups, a lot. I handled the Hellion a few weeks ago, and it is pretty sweet. If I did not already have an RDB, I would probably be shopping it right now. As it stands, I have over 600 rounds through the K.T. and I must have received a good build.

I'd rather have a Tavor X95 if you are going bullpup. It takes AR mags all the controls are similar to an AR. For a SHTF rifle, I don't think anything beats an AR. So easy to find parts if something breaks.

Lol so now you think it’s a good idea to have an “emergency bag” but you just couldn’t stop yourself from getting in a few more digs on “preppers” rofl if I were you I just wouldn’t worry about it and stick your head in the sand.

With that said I wouldn’t go bullpup, look at the new Palmetto State Armory Jakl. Right now they’re only offered in 5.56 but soon will be in 9mm and 300BLK. For a backpack gun it’s going to be hard to beat it in 300BLK. 7.5” barrel and no buffer system so it has a folder on it. Going to be a tiny package with a ton of fire power. Smaller than most PCC’s with a lot more energy.

Here is the 5:56 version. They’re also going to have a 7.62x39 version too

I’d second the Tavor X95. Im sure the Hellion is fine too. I dont know about Keltec - they make some innovative designs but not what I think of when it comes to quality and reliability.

up I like the looks of the Jakl.

I pieced together a few side chargers with quality components. Kept the weight down to a hair under 8lbs on both using small prism optics.

This one is is a 223 Wylde 3R. I have it’s twin in 6.8 spc with a 3x Micro Prism.

Take a look at the Primary Arms micro prism sights

This is the 1x but they have a 3x in the same footprint. About the same footprint as a Aimpoint T1 I have bad astigmatism so I’ve switched to prisms exclusively besides my pistols just because they don’t have one yet.

I have the PA 3x on my 6.8 andGalil ACE 308. I love them. The one above is a PA 2X. It’s awesome as well. Weighs 11 ounces vs 8 for the 3x but it’s has 3.5” of eye relief. Below is 6.8 with the 3x.

I had LPVOs on my ARs but switching to these little prisms shaves a full pound off the rifles.

AR with pistol brace or SBR is all you need. Light, compact and easy to get parts. The Hellion may have that "cool look factor" but it's just a gimmick.

The AR is the best weapons platform currently available on the planet to American citizens.

I’ve always been smitten by the bull pup design. Excessively fondled the Travor and was very interested in the Croatian Hellion when it was first announced, but ended up with the old school Steyr Aug. It’s the NATO version that takes AR mags, carries well, shoots great and scratches the itch.

But for a bug out weapon an 8” AR in 300 BO with a folder and can would be my choice. Right after a pintle mounted ma deuce in the bed of my pickup.

I got a Hellion when they first were released. I’ve shot maybe 100 rounds through it. It’s a neat concept.
I’ve been meaning to try and sight it in with a few different optics and loads to see what it is capable of. Haven’t had the time.

I handled a Hellion a few hours ago at my LGS and while I like the ambi-ness of it cheek weld with irons was terrible so if I were to get one I would need a scope. I'll gladly keep my ARs and XCR.
