I ordered some online and they shipped to my local tire guy. Your bigger online dealers have designated shops they will ship to as well. Sorry, but I don't remember what they charged. I need some tires now and will shop online. I get a discount from Tirebuyer.com through work.

Man, I was looking online yesterday and it's hard to fathom spending $2,500 on 4 tires.

I quit going to Discount decades ago, for the same reason. I don't have time to wait for hours either

Too many other options, and worth it to save a few bucks, plus they don't do alignments either.

Speaking of alignments - better to get the alignment after or before installing new tires?

I always waited till I get new tires to get an alignment

We needed to get some new tires for the wife's 2012 new to her used Nissan Armada, as the tires were original factory tires that were 12 years old...and getting really nasty looking thin with 42k miles on 'em. So we shopped every where we could think of ...until one of my son's who still live in DFW said "how about Cost Co?". Looked around on line to find a Cost Co somewhere in DFW where we could kill 2 birds with one stone and have lunch with one of the son's , and took out a CC Members Card on line and ordered a set of Michelins at over $200 cheaper with a 75K mile warranty than any where else we could find'em in stock.
Great service too.

I bought 6 tires for my truck yesterday, P235 80R17 and Discount Tire store gave me the best deal with everything. Had a couple of online comparisons. Scheduled an appointment. In and out in 1.5 hours which is ok for 6 tires.

To be determined

I always schedule an appointment with Discount Tire. That works out great. And I had them install metal valve stems on my Sprinter Van, which has dual rear wheels. They didn’t charge me a cent.

I like Discount. They will repair a flat tire no charge. Even if you didn’t buy the tire from them. I was shocked when they fixed mine for free.

And if you do buy the tire from discount, they will rotate and balance free as well. Thomason Tire in McKinney wanted to charge me over $30 to balance and rotate tires I bought from them. I generally try and support the small town businesses, but after that, and the fact they were more expensive to start with, I’ll not be doing business with Thomason any longer.

I’ve seen you can buy tires on Amazon and sent to pep boys to install. Never done this myself.

I have found, some tires don’t do well in Texas with the hot concrete. Bought some pretty expensive Michelin’s for wife’s Lexus. They were trash.
Discount tire guy recommended Perellis, they’ve been great.

I have an account with Discount Tire Direct, majority of the time Simple Tire beats their prices....
Simple Tire will also ship to local tire shops and you prepay Simple tire for mounting cheaper than the shop charges to start with.

Local shops have a very minor selection to choose from. Tire rack has practically
Anything made for your size. With excellent reviews and ratings for every tire. Any local shop will install online tires but will charge a premium for install higher than they would normally charge if you buy tires from them

I have a hard time beleiving a local shop will install and balance $5 a tire. I think you will be paying $20 a tire. At least. More like $25 a tire. The guy you talked to was looking at the price list from 1982

We will find out in a few days. I specifically asked if that was per tire and he said no, total.

Its sickening what the markup is on tires, especially from the manufacturer to the dealer. I buy tires on a National Account from Bridgestone and Michelin, and my price is usually $130.00 +/- less depending on the specific tire than what the dealers have to pay for them.
