Our local gunshop has finally received some primers. They will start showing up on more dealer shelves shortly, with any luck.

My local supplier that ALWAYS has stuff told me the other day that we are about to go through another drought on primers. His shelves looked barren that day and I can honestly say that is a first for his store.
I think it might have something to do with the new government contract being awarded as I have heard rumor that CCI is now selling primers to one of the other manufacturers as that company (Federal?)is not able to produce them fast enough. As if things weren't tight already, now we have another problem to contend with.
My local shop still has LR primers for sale, but they are limiting how many you can purchase at any one time. I think the limit is 500 at a time. I have been buying the limit each time I go in just so I have some to work with. I have a very small stash, and plan to keep it that way until things stabilize, and hopefully the prices come back down a bit. Then, I'll buy more to stash. Right now the prices are just gosh-awful.
Salt Gap, I could get you some next time I'm in but how would I get them to you??? I'm in Houston.

Thanks for the reply KAWA! I have been to Gander Mountain and Acadamy in Lubbock and Abilene and they are out. The sales man said they are waiting for a shipment, but did not know when they would get any in. My friend who works for the TPWD/WMA in Mason Tx. reloads for me and he is having a hard time keeping these in his stockpyle. If you would PM me with a price for #500 or how many ever you feel like you can let go of, I will send you money for material and postage with my address.

As I mentioned in my PM back to you-I can't ship primers! Too much trouble to get in if I get caught.
If anyone reading this is passing through Houston on your way to, or even towards, Mason and willing to help a fellow reloader out-let us know!
If we can find someone to carry them between us, I'll buy some for you and send them along with the receipt. You can reimburse me after you receive the primers.

I was talking to the fella that runs the reloading shop I've been buying from for 20yrs the other day. He informed me that things like primers and powder are not impossible to get right now, nor were they ever. He feels the problem is that most shop owners got so used to dealing with a few distributors, and when those distributors came up short, the shop owners just kinda threw their hands in the air. The place I speak of has had at least a limited supply of stuff on the shelves for the majority of the drought. As of last week he was still rationing primers, at 1,000 per customer, just to stave off hoarders and keep us regulars in mind. But he had a full shelf of powder and quite a few primers. Maybe not the particular brand one might want, but they make a bang when dented.
Also, Cliffy, here on the board has been making members some pretty good deal on primers and even some loaded ammo. Might look him up. I bought around 3,000 primers (split among 3 of us) from him this spring just cause it was convenient and fairly priced.
Seek and ye shall find.
