Planning a 5000 mile road trip to California. Want to see the giant redwoods. Also gonna drive the coast highway maybe from LA to SF. Drive through death valley on the way back.. Never been to California before. Yes, i know California is the liberal devil.

Any advice on must see places or must eat foods?

Also, ill be looking into it but anyone familiar with the laws of having a handgun in the car in Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, and California?

Big fire threatening the redwoods, check ahead if you're going soon.

They are awesome to see though.

When we went a mud slide had closed hwy 1. Stay away from the metro (LA/SF), unless you like lots of traffic and crowds. We enjoyed the east side of the Sierra Nevadas much more than the west side.

I have driven from Lake Tahoe , to Bodega Bay , north on PCH far enough to cut over to see Redwoods , back thru the wine country then back to
Lake Tahoe. One day. One long day.

Bodega Bay is where the movie " The Birds" was filmed. We had lunch at the Diner that was in the film.

Wait until they get the fires under control.
I think the biggest reciprocity issues will be in CA, I think it's no magazines over 10 round capacity.

Drive the pacific coast highway in Malibu. It’s stunning

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I went to a place I believe it is called Fern Canyon that was pretty neat. Redwoods are cool, I went to the Humboldt area for those. Driving the PCH can be slow at times with all the winding and weaving.

Lived in Oxnard the summer of '85 before departing for the Army. I used to ride my M/C down PCH to Malibu then up to The Rock Store all the time. Great ride on a early Saturday morning. Oh how times have changed.

I'll have to look into the fire conditions. We are thinking of going soon.

Over to el pasi, through Phoenix, to san diego, up the coast highway through huntingdon Beach, laguna, to San Francisco, over o sequoia redwood Forrest to see the general Sherman tree, down through death valley, las vegas and back home.

Don't have a real itinerary or much planned, just drive until tired seeing things along the way, stay the night wherever.

Any really good food over that way? Stops along the coast highway?
