I've been reloading for a few decades now, so I know many of the reasons not to expect velocity claims when it comes to published data. But has anyone found Staball to produce improved velocities over what seems like every other powder on the market can muster in 08 based cartridges? I've yet to try it, though I did buy some a while back.

I have been using 6.5 Sta Bal for a while and I have noticed that velocities will be slightly less than similar powders in the burn range. That said it also in many cases produces a bit better accuracy because of the higher fill percentage. I like it but i'm more interested in accuracy over speed.

Its a good option in that burn rate that has Ball powder good metering characteristics and improved temperature susceptibility. But from my experiences not quite the magical velocity gains that came with say Reloder 26. I used it on a progressive press to load 22&6.5 Creedmoor’s.

From data I have looked at it seems to be a good option for the heavy end of the spectrum. I seem to get more velocity according to the magneto speed than published data, but my 270 and 7-08 both have 26 inch barrels which I’m sure is not typical of punished data.

6.5 Staball is a good "Ricky Bobby" powder for increased speeds over normal powders in similar burn rates. I've used it with good success in several custom builds where velocity was a priority.

I bought a couple pounds to try but never went in on a whole 8#er. Any comments on how temperature stable it is? I have some Win 760 and it is definitely very sentsitive.
I'm a dude who likes long barrels!
