Duck Commander, Phil Robertson, visited a local church this Saturday morning and had an inspiring and real message. I know the executive director of Greater Houston Christian Outdoors Fellowship (GHCOF) and Jimmy put together a dinner at a local steak house the night before, so I took Jacob (my son) and his equally duckaholic friend Red.

It was a great time and PaPa's Steakhouse can crank out some great food! Phil had great story's (starting quarterback with Terry Bradshaw as his 2nd string backup), but his passion for duck hunting led him to spend his energy and career in the outdoors. Phil is very funny and loves to share the gospel and his passion for the outdoors.

Anyway, thought I pass this along and let you know if Phil is ever in town, he's worth every minute.

Me and Phil. Great times...

Duck Commander blessed my sons TRIGGER FINGER! It was quite humorous...

Phil, speaking the good news!

Phil can make music out of those duck calls...

Nice to see a fellow Bulldog on the forum.

Phil Robertson was the back up QB for LaTech during some of the Terry Bradshaw years. He often says that "Terry went after the bucks, and He went after the Ducks."

He lives up north of West Monroe, La and I am told by the local yocals that he is very approachable, and will take anyone duck hunting but they have to listen to the Gospel first.

Cool dude.

The wild life of today is not ours to do with as we please. The original stock was given to us in trust for the benefit both of the present and the future. We must render an accounting of this trust to those who come after us.

Phil and his entire family are good people. I never really got too fired up about the Duck Commander thing until I heard him behind the pulpit the 1st time. I could listen to this guy for hours, behind the pulpit or across the coffee table. Believe me, this is the kind of people we need to speak for us about our sport. He reminds me so much of my F_I_L, who has passed on. My F_I_L has been known to preach a little in his time. I aint real big on Duck hunting, but the Duck Commander is a Class Act in my book. Class act indeed.

Spent about 3 hours at dinner with Phil and his wife. Based on the multiple stories he shared with us; yes, Phil is very approachable and yes, Phil is a class act.

Quick story about approachability if you desire, read on...

Back in the day, Phil was taking orders personally for his duck calls. He was on the phone with a customer who was placing an order and saying "GD" this and "GD" that during the call. I'll try to make a long story short... Phil knew he lived in Alabama and Phil lived in Lousiana. Phil ministered to him while on the phone and said, 'you know what you should do, you need to drive down here and we need to sit down and have a talk'. Seven days later, Phil was going about his business and there was a knock on the door. Phil hollared 'come on in'. Two guys walked in and one of them said 'remember me? We spoke last week and you said we need to have a talk'.

Phil said 'sure I remember you, come on in and we'll talk'. Phil led them to the Lord that day, both of them crying like little boys before Phil finished. Then Phil took them down to the river and baptised both of them and they went on their way...

I consider this very approachable...

Seventeen years later, Phil had a speaking engagement at a local church in Alabama. Ended up, the guy on the phone seventeen years earlier, whom Phil led to Christ, was the assistant pastor at that Church. They had a chance to catch up while Phil was there.

This is just a quick version of the story, but one of the story's that Phil shared during our dinner. I could listen to Phil's story's (both his ministering story's and his duck hunting story's) for hours. He is humorous, sincere, caring, and an overall great person.

Just my .02 Thanks for reading...

A quick heads up as well. Phil's wife said that if we really want to watch a funny, funny episode of Phi's Duck Commander reality show, watch the episode this fall when "The Exterminators" visit Phil in Louisiana and he takes them out to "exterminate" one of his duck blinds.

Not gonna give it away, but it sounds quite funny I will say that...
