Gut-wrenching interview of A. Reyes, a wounded Uvalde 4th grade teacher. Based on all the initial reporting, I had no idea there was a third teacher involved. I thought Mrs. Garcia was in one room and Mrs. Mireles was in the other adjoining classroom. But apparently, they were both in 112 and Mr. Reyes was in 111. It's a miracle that he was only shot twice and survived despite not getting medical attention for over an hour. He had 11 kids in his room and every single one of them died.

Just my opinion, but the protocol he was given was terrible. The shooter would have access through the door that joined the two rooms, so that's a much different scenario. The hallway door actually becomes a viable escape route. The adjoining room was breached first by the shooter, so in this situation, common sense dictates that the teacher should try to keep the shooter from entering through the joining door and tell the kids to run like hell and get out through the hallway door....makes more sense to me. He needed a viable Plan B, but Reyes followed what he was told and it made the kids sitting ducks pretending to sleep under the table where the shooter didn't even have to walk around to shoot them. This is a real tragedy all the way around because the teacher followed the protocol he was given and law enforcement did not follow theirs.

I saw his interview. All 11 kids in class where killed while LE waited. He called them cowards and will never forgive them. They had the guns and vests while he had NOTHING. I believe in karma. Very sad.

Seen it also. Said a kid in the other classroom called out for help the POS went in the other class and killed the child.

Very sad doesn’t begin to convey how horrific this is.

The Doctor that was in front of the "committee" yesterday said some kids were decapitated. If true then processing that crime scene and recovering bodies and body parts would be very hard to deal with. I can only imagine what they shared with the parents.

Man, did he seriously say that? That blows any credibility he might have had. He said he didn't know he was in charge, but all the reporting said he is the one that gave the order to stand down. He intentionally did not have his radio "to free up his hands" and the radios didn't work inside the building? How can you have radios that won't work inside a school building? Plus, it looks like the delay did cost lives. The report said that one of the teachers (Mireles) died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital and three children died at the hospital. Why in the ___ hasn't he been fired yet?

There is no f'n way all of these officers were scared to go in and risk their lives for these kids. I guarantee you, at least most wanted to go and I bet most of them want to kill themselves right now over it. I'm betting that they regret following orders.

Logistics, command & control, decision makers....they're not perfect either.

I was not there, wearing gear and a radio, neither were you. I will not judge any public servant until all of the truth comes out....and I'm sure theirs's more to come, as always...

I’m sitting in a middle school today that is considered rich and we have radio issues.

When they do work and you are next to another person with a radio it will squelch and be very loud. Add in the yelling and echo of school halls.

Some pds may not have the other units channel or time to figure it out due to exigent circumstances
