My mom called me asking me for my opinion on a gun she can carry around while on her land for snakes.. I recommended a Taurus Judge...
She went out and bought one, but now she cant find ammo.. :-)
I drove around to 4 places yesterday and today, and couldn't find her any.
Willing to drive to buy some.. I'm in Lewisville, and drive to Hugo, Oklahoma regularly..

Have you checked Roger's Sporting Goods or Dunn's Sporting Goods? They both ship promptly and sometimes free depending on the amount ordered.
Target Sports USA is another great option.

I've got 2 boxes for Monarch #9 2½inch that I bought at Academy.
I'll take what I paid for them $9.99 plus tax each.
I'll be in far West Plano tomorrow.
Mom needs to be able to shoot them snakes!

Other 410 ammo are just good for plinkering target.
Think of it like regular 12ga shotshell and 12ga slugs or buckshots. WHAT...........? Have you ever shot a snake from 6'-10' like 'MOM' is going to do? Of course bird-shot is going to be the best thing. It will provide the largest pattern (but still plenty dense). If she were to shoot a 'slug' she might as well shoot a mild load of 45 LC and be pretty close to the snake or a good shot. Buckshot is simply not needed for snakes (outside of the Everglades). #6 shot to as small as #9 is plenty. Remember 'Mom' is likely a Senior Citizen....and probably has little experience shooting a pistol, let alone at snakes.

Think of it like regular 12ga shotshell and 12ga slugs or buckshots. FWIW, killed many a snake with 7 1/2, I've shot .410s my whole life, pheasant, quail, and dove. About the only birds I haven't shot are ducks and geese. Even shot many a rabbit and squirrels . I do have a couple boxes of slugs, mainly for house cleaning duties other than the milk jug and the pack of paper plates I shot just to test drive. I'll check and see if I have a box for her.

The .45LC CCI snake rounds work best in my opinion This is my vote. Mom ain't gonna like the recoil from those .410's.
